Invisible hands attempted to pull Reese's right hand away. Suddenly, golden light began to emanate from his hand, gradually dispersing the surrounding black energy. A slight smirk formed at the corner of Reese's mouth.
βSkyshard Armor, come on! Let me see your limits!β
A brilliant flash of light engulfed Reese as he effortlessly removed the mask from his face. However, it was not over yet. The Sky Reflector Mirror was still inside him, still trying to manipulate his mind. Yet, Reese remained unfazed.
βCome on, let this body know who the real master is!β
A rapid succession of memories flashed through Reese's mind, much like a vivid dream sequence. His ability to resist the Sky Reflector Mirror's control was connected to the mental fortitude he had been cultivating since a young age.
As mentioned before, Reese was the son of the current president of Swift Corporation. His father was also a disciple of the Swift Sect in his youth. He was even considered a generation above Fredwyn. By the time Reese was born, his father was already nearing 60 years old.
Reese's father was overjoyed to have a son in his later years, but he never spoiled him. On the contrary, he was very strict. The phrase he repeated most often was, "You're a child of the Kinley family; there's a lot you still have to accomplish!"
Under this immense pressure, Reese spent the first 20 years of his life enduring constant hardship. Every day, his body and will were hammered and refined without respite. He learned numerous martial arts, and with his father's growing influence, many martial artists were eager to teach Reese their techniques.
Of course, there were many who were just trying to jump on the bandwagon, but that was not an issue. By his early teens, Reese was already capable of defeating multiple martial arts masters. His father had made it clear to those who came that the Kinley family would not be held responsible should they be killed if they were not powerful enough to back their teachings.
Through this careful selection process, Reese managed to master nearly two-thirds of the martial arts techniques he was exposed to by his 20s. Then, one day, he approached his father.
Though skeptical, Reese respected his father and so agreed. He then set off to the Swift Martial Sect. Upon arriving there, Reese wasted no time and immediately challenged Fredwyn.
"My father sent me to you. Does that mean you're strong?" Reese asked with a hint of disdain in his voice.
Fredwyn was silent and offered no response. Reese was not one to waste time and immediately threw a punch straight at the old man. It was like hitting a giant iron bell as a resounding echo reverberated through the air.
Shocked, Reese quickly retreated, shaking his hand to ease the pain. He took another careful look at Fredwyn and realized that he was not as weak as he had thought.
