My Substitute CEO Bride (Nash Calicraft) novel Chapter 2617

Fogort thought for a moment and then spoke in a deliberately casual tone, adding an air of mystery to his words, “Well, you see, I really don’t know.”

“What?”

“Master Calcraft, in my book, any event has a 50-50 chance.”

Fogort shook his head, reciting something his master once said.

“My master once told me that everything in this world is up to fate, and all we can do is take action. I know how to extract that guy’s abilities, but there’s also a chance it could fail. Or I might not even get to him before I die. Who knows?

“I don’t think too much about it; I just want to do what I believe is right. Maybe that way, I’ll find some satisfaction.

“Now, Master Calcraft, I need to give you a word of advice.”

Nash’s expression turned serious as he turned to look at the image of some figure on the elevator wall. The silhouette was very blurry, seemingly shrouded in mist.

Fogort calmly continued, “Once I start to strip Alistair of his abilities, you must ignore me no matter the state I'm in and find the All Souls Token as soon as possible.”

These resolute words left Nash momentarily speechless.

Seeing Nash’s lack of response, Fogort dropped the seriousness and smiled. “You see, I’m worried you’ll delay my ritual. I really can’t stand trouble, so if you don’t leave, it’ll be quite a hassle for me.”

Hearing this, Nash could only nod slightly.

“Fogort, I’ve met your master.”

“Oh? What a coincidence.”

“So, if I don’t bring you back safely, I’m afraid the old man will come looking for me.” Nash half-jokingly added, “I really can’t stand trouble, so it’s mutual, right?”

Fogort smiled, and his reflection in the elevator doors mirrored it. They both silently prepared for what lay ahead.

“Good luck, Master Calcraft!”

...

Amy left in haste.

Raylee then turned to Dorothy in his arms and said, “Let’s get going too.”

“No, Ray... I-I feel a bit... weak...”

“Don’t be silly. You mustn’t sleep!”

Dorothy nodded, then held Raylee’s hand and said, “I-I’m sorry for what I did before...”

“I’m not angry with you. Why are you apologizing?”

“It’s all my fault. You must have known what Mr. Tipton had been up for a long time, but you kept quiet for my sake.”

Raylee’s eyes turned red, and he shook his head, feeling like his throat was being squeezed by emotions.

“Dorothy, don’t say anymore...”
