My Substitute CEO Bride (Nash Calicraft) novel Chapter 2370

Since it would take time for a visit with Astorus to be arranged, Astin agreed to accompany Charlotte on her journey. Charlotte had not been affected by Dusky's abilities—not because he forgot to alter her memories but because he had deliberately chosen not to.

He had altered the fate of the Calhoun family, leading to a future where the siblings might never meet again. This was the consequence of forcing change upon destiny.

Astin and Charlotte headed toward a remote mountain forest. Charlotte relied on the faint, fragmented memories she had left, and they searched tirelessly.

After a long time, she finally found the dilapidated wooden cabin she had been looking for. She slowly approached the small house, and at that moment, it felt as though time had rewound to the past.

Charlotte heard movement inside the cabin just then. Both of them observed cautiously before discovering that someone was sitting inside. Gathering her courage, Charlotte asked, "Who are you?"

The person inside turned their head. "You can call me Dusky."

Dusky had returned to this place, not for any particular reason, but because he had discovered that there was still a candidate recognized by the divine runes in this area. Dusky knew that it was likely one of the two people in front of him.

However, the game in this region had already ended, and starting another round could cause chaos. Hence, for now, he just wanted to meet the two of them.

The moment Dusky turned his head, Astin instantly sensed an incredibly dangerous aura. He quickly stepped forward to shield Charlotte behind him and then demanded, "Who are you? What's with the power you yield?”

Dusky chuckled, a mysterious glint in his eyes as he replied, "It seems you've already awakened your power, one of the Five—Sorrow."

"You... You actually know about that..." Astin was shocked.

Unfazed, Dusky turned away and continued, "I know more than just that. I also know what your father did all those years ago and the crisis you're about to face."

“My brother! Where is he now?” Charlotte asked excitedly.

“I don’t know, but it’s likely that he's somewhere in the city,” Dusky replied truthfully.

He could only say so much. When he altered their memories, he retained most of Clayton's memories of his sister, making only slight modifications.

In Clayton's current memory, their parents had divorced peacefully, each taking custody of one child. Hence, Clayton still remembered having a sister, but his memories were a bit idealized.

As for Charlotte, her memories had not been altered because she did not know much to begin with—she did not even know she had been abandoned by her father.

Knowing that her brother was still in the city, Charlotte was eager to head there and find him.
