My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 774

We arrived at the hospital.

The doctor diagnosed Valerie with appendicitis and informed us that she needed surgery, so Nerissa returned to the villa to take care of Anne while the others stayed behind at the hospital.

In the corridor of the hospital, a gust of wind blew by, sending shivers down everyone's back.

Whenever I stared at something for a long time, my eyes would hurt. I took a breath and pried my eyes away. The three people in the emergency room were too glaring.

"Don't worry, everything will be fine." Hendrix's voice was soft and it carried with it a hint of firm assurance.

I nodded and leaned on his chest. My body felt cold and stiff. Hendrix tried his best to keep me warm.

Suddenly, a loud 'bang' was heard.

The door of the emergency room opened, and the main surgeon came rushing out as he took off the gloves on his hands.

Pedro hurried over and asked, "Doctor, how's my wife?"

"The surgery was a success. She will be fine after a few days of hospitalization. Don't worry." The doctor left after giving us an update on Valerie's condition.

I breathed a sigh of relief, feeling my tense nerves gradually easing up.

Soon, a few nurses pushed Valerie out and sent her to her ward.

Pedro immediately tailed them while I stood motionless, rooted to where I was standing for a long while. When I regained my senses, I muttered, "Let's go!"

When Hendrix saw me walking towards the elevator, he asked, "Aren't you going to go take a look?"

I shook my head, "No, Anne is still at home."

Hendrix did not say anything after hearing this.

It seemed that Aaron had not visited them recently. I told myself to keep calm instead of lashing out about my brother. I told her softly, "Take good care of yourself."

After that, I hung up the phone.

Hendrix took my hand in his and said in a low voice, "Don't worry too much. Go home and get some rest."

I nodded and looked at him sideways. Oddly, I said, "A book says that if a man loves someone, he would do whatever it takes to be by her side even if it meant placing his life at stake. But why do I see it as the other way around?"

It was not like Aaron did not have feelings for Yana. After being with her for so many years, he had gotten used to having her around. So, why was he still so cold to her even when she was at her weakest?

Wounds on the soul hurt much more than wounds on the body.

Hendrix held onto the steering wheel with one hand while he casted a glance my way. His gaze was as warm as jade. "There are ghosts and gods, as well as other worlds, in books. But are they real?"
