My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 732

After thinking for a while, I said, "It's about to snow again, and it will be noon soon. Do you want to stay for lunch?"

I had to say - there are days I didn't want to see him because of Anne; days when I didn't even want him anywhere near the Roberts house.

I even thought about telling Hendrix to stay away from him. This way, no one would take Anne away from me.

But I couldn't be so selfish!

He paused for a moment, turned off the tap, and then took a tissue to wipe his hands. He looked at me and asked, "Are you cooking?"

This man...

After a pause, I nodded. "Yes!" I thought for a moment and said, "I'll cook later, but no one is watching Anne. Would you do me a favor and look after her for me?"

He raised his eyebrows and nodded.

I let out a sigh of relief. He didn't stay in the living room. Instead, he went straight into Anne's bedroom.

A father would always care for his daughter.

Hendrix and I should have a child soon.

I rummaged around the fridge for some food. Anne could only eat healthy food, so I decided to cook only nutritious food for her.

It didn't take me long to whip up a healthy meal for three.

When I went to Anne's room to call for them, Anne had already woken up. She was sitting on the bed with Josiah playing a game. Her voice still sounded hoarse and weak.

She laughed so much that she started to cough. Josiah helped her by patting her back. His gaze on her was always tender and loving.

"Food is ready!" I called out, interrupting their lovely father-daughter moment.

No one said I had to be a saint.

When I saw them talking and laughing, I felt a little sad. After all, I did raise this child with my bare hands.

On the dining table, Anne ate more than usual. She was so excited and happy that it didn't take her long to fall asleep once she finished eating.

Josiah packed his medical kit on the sofa and was prepared to leave.

After a moment of silence, I said, "Do you have time, Doctor Saunders? Can we talk?"

He pursed his lips, nodded, and sat back down on the sofa. "Sure!"

I took a small breath and dived straight to the point. "When Monique passed, she said that Anne should never be reunited with you for the rest of her life."

As soon as I finished my words, his gaze darkened with pain. "I understand!"

"Anne is still your child. No one can deny this," I continued calmly, "Not even Monique."

He looked up at me in astonishment. He asked with a frown, "So, what are you saying?"

"What happened between you and Monique is you and her business alone, and I would hate to interfere but I have no choice. Anne has been with me since she was a baby and I've raised her as my own. We share a bond and a connection. I hope you can understand this."
