My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 709

"I'm thirsty!" I came downstairs for water, but I did not expect to eavesdrop on their conversation.

He nodded, "Alright, wait a minute!"

After I gulped down the water, he straight away put the cooked food in front of me, saying gently, "After eating, go and get some sleep, alright?"

I nodded. I did not ask about Chloe. We were all bad people after all. So, why bother being merciful?

Though I said that I was hungry, I did not eat much and in fact, had no appetite to eat.

Seeing that I did not want to eat anymore, he frowned and asked, "You don't like it?"

I shook my head, leaned into his arms, and sighed slightly, "It's delicious, but I think I'm not hungry anymore."

He did not force me to eat. He knew that if I ate too much, I'd puke it all up.

He understood me even better than I understood myself.

We only sat together as time went by quietly. None of us said a word to each other.

As I was falling asleep, I felt him holding my hand.

He embraced me and said in a low and magnetic voice, "Arianna, I'm sorry!"

I remember thinking that his voice sounded blurry before dozing off.

The next day.

It was rare to see Aaron here. He had dropped by with a few things.

Most of them were for Anne.

He saw that I was not feeling well. He didn't pay Hendrix much attention and diverted his focus on me. He asked, "How about we go back to the Reid family?"

He nodded, "It's Valerie. She's working in a charity foundation now. I greeted her when I saw her at Anne's school."

I pursed my lips in silence.

If no one mentioned anything about Valerie, I would've forgotten about our relationship.

Seeing that I was silent, Aaron hesitated for a while before saying, "I know that you resent her, but she did give birth to you, and spent her whole life searching for you. There's so much helplessness in this matter. Arianna, she might even be suffering more than you are."

My lips stayed pursed as I held the cup tightly in my hand. "Aaron, when I first saw her at the Pearis Manor, Arnold said that my eyebrows were similar to hers. Later when I returned home, I looked at the mirror for a long time and thought that if my mother did not leave me, my eyebrows now would resemble hers when she was my age."

"When I was very young, my Grandma said that I was a dandelion, and that when I was held in my mother's palm, I was accidentally blown away by the wind. The wind carried me away and separated my mother and I - that's how I came to meet my Grandma. I never hated her. Through all those years she raised me, she never once told me that I was abandoned. I was just a child blown away by the wind."

Anne looked at me. The little fellow leaned herself against my leg. She comforted me, "Mommy, it's okay. You still have me!"

I smiled faintly; I was not that sad anymore.
