The scandal issue could not be settled in a short time. The reporters would not give up so easily, especially when two big companies were involved. Hendrix and Irvin both knew that.
In the afternoon, it looked like it was about to snow in Jarold City. The originally foggy sky suddenly turned brighter.
I sat in the lounge, reading, but my mind kept drifting back to Yana. Aaron never respond to my text message.
Putting down the book in my hand, I looked sideways at Hendrix who was busy going through the documents at his desk. I got up and walked towards him.
Leaning over his shoulder, I said, "Hendrix, I want to visit Yana."
He stopped what he was doing. He did not reject me but only added, "Wait till tomorrow, I'll go with you!"
I knew that he was only worried about my safety if I went out alone.
But it was useless for me to continue staying here. "I want to go!" I stood up and started to throw a tantrum.
He smiled gently and said, "It's cold outside..."
"You know that Aaron is unreliable. Yana's child belongs to the Reid family. That child will be calling us aunt and uncle. I don't have anything to do here. All I need to do is put on a mask, a pair of sunglasses, and keep a low profile. It will be fine." What I said was all true. I had no idea how Aaron was going to treat Yana.
If he really did not stay in the hospital and left Yana alone, how disappointed would she be?
Hendrix looked at me without saying anything. I thought he was going to reject my request again. When I wanted to convince him further, he spoke.
"The bodyguards will go with you. Don't go running around. Wait for me to pick you up."
I nodded happily. "Okay!"
She looked at me, her gaze hidden behind her dark sunglasses.
"Miss Hammer, do you know why in these four years, even after you became Josiah's woman, Hendrix still did not care to look at you?"
Just because we were hurt by others once, it didn't mean that we should hurt them right back. Often it was better to avoid what could be avoided to prevent unnecessary problems from occurring.
But why couldn't we just do it? If we hurt them back, it would send them a message not to hurt others. Thus, it was better to just deal with them immediately.
I poked at her scar, and she was instantly triggered, "It's none of your business!"
"Why is it none of my business? It’s my husband we're talking about here." I was someone who could tolerate those who admired Hendrix, but she took her anger out on me which I found unacceptable. I lowered my voice and looked at her, unangered. "Miss Hammer, you should go home and take a good look in the mirror to see what is yours and what is not. It is good for girls to be ambitious, but you can't be unscrupulous. You should know which lines to not cross. Otherwise, you might ruin your own life."
