My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 660

"Is there really nothing left between us? The month we spent together, is it worth nothing to you?"

He tugged at me, his composure faltering, "Am I really so despicable to you, that you won't even talk to me?"

I frowned, then sighed as I looked at him. "Isn't Shirley due soon?"

Slightly taken aback, he said, "You're worried about her?" He paused, then continued, "That child was an accident. If this is what you're worried about, we can wait until the child is out, and I'll get her to return to Mesville. She won't affect us."

Anger rose within me. I pushed him away, saying, "Affect us? Get her to return to Mesville? Irvin, do you know how Hendrix is different from you? He has principles, and he knows how to be responsible towards a woman. He especially knows not to hurt someone even in the absence of love. He may be dense, but he knows what respect is."

Suppressing my anger, I took a deep breath and continued, "Yes, I have no right to criticize you. I know that I wasn't the best four years ago. I owe it to you. Whatever you want me to do, just say the word and I'll do it. Other than to love you, I will do my best to make it up to you. But, as a man, if you don't love Shirley, why did you get close to her, then treat her so coldly? She didn't do anything wrong. The only mistake she made was loving you."

This was mankind's downfall. We always thought of other people even though we already had someone right by our side whom we don't even appreciate enough.

He pursed his lips and remained silent for a moment. His black eyes were slightly narrowed as he said, "Will you agree to everything I say?"

"I can do anything except love you!" Avoiding him wasn't the solution after all.

He raised his eyebrows and said, "Work in the Granger Group, move out of Hendrix's villa, and don't meet with him ever again."

I pressed my lips and said angrily, "I have an exam in November, so I can't work. Whether I leave him or see him, it's my personal life. Irvin, must you really make us enemies?"

He sneered in disdain, "So, you can't grant every request of mine as you said you would. Is that it?"

He looked at me and said adamantly, "A month of salvation, repaid with half a year of meals; you're not losing anything."

"Fine!"

I was a little tired, even somewhat agitated. I felt my emotions unfurling little by little.

I didn't want to stay around any longer after we finished our conversation, so I got ready to leave.

He stood behind me and didn't stop me. Suddenly, he said, "If someone bullies you next time, the best solution is to return the favor. If you don't want to see Nerissa around, all I need is a word from you, and I'll make her vanish."

I stopped right in my tracks, completely stunned as I turned around to look at him. My brows creased. "What do you mean?"
