I said without so much as a thought, "You won't do something like that!"
He was slightly surprised, then raised his eyebrows at me. "Someone's confident about this!"
"Sierra was annoying, but she didn't deserve this. Besides, the company is keeping you busy. You wouldn't be interested in this little celebrity. This was obviously a strike of revenge. You're not that kind of person." Back then, I never wanted to take Valerie's life, nor would I want the same for Sierra.
To some degree, Hendrix and I worked the same way, so I was certain that he didn't do it.
He paused slightly, then drew me into his arms and put his chin on top of my head as he said in a low voice, "You think so highly of me. I'm flattered."
I didn't joke around with him. I felt something was amiss and said, "The Moore Family wouldn't do that either. Let's not talk about Valerie. Even though Pedro was in the shady business for years, he wouldn't take another's life."
He nodded. Lowering his voice, he said, "Stop thinking about it and just focus on preparing for your exam."
In short, this had nothing to do with me, so I stopped talking about it.
It was National Day in October.
Thanks to Freya, I got an opportunity to get into Jarold University, so it wasn't difficult for me to take the postgraduate exam.
The Jarold University campus was huge. Upon exiting the academic building, I bumped into Freya's fiance, Zachary. He was tall and slender and had a gentle demeanor. His glasses made him look like a gentleman.
I managed to sit in on a few classes at Jarold University, thanks to him. Seeing him from afar, I waved my hand to greet him, "Professor Holt!"
He spotted me and stood there, smiling.
I went up to him and saw that he was holding a law textbook. I figured he had just finished a lecture, so I asked, "Do you still have classes later?"
He smiled and shook his head, "I'm done for the day. What about you? How's your English class going?" "I learnt a lot!" I carried my books in hand as I walked with him towards the school gate. "Are you going to the Southrea Villas later?"
He shrugged his shoulders. "Probably not. My family is coming to Jarold City, so I need to pick them up. Please help me tell Freya that well have dinner together."
relaxed.
Was this a coincidence? Or was it planned?
It didn't matter.
Looking up at him, I pursed my lips and said, "I'm going home. It's near, so there's no need for a lift."
He knitted his brows and said coldly, "Home?" He sneered. "Your home with Hendrix?"
I frowned and didn't say anything else. I just looked at him impatiently, wanting to leave.
"Arianna, are you a fool? If he were true to you, how could he want you to stay with him without officially acknowledging you?" There seemed to be someone else in the black Bentley; it was probably his assistant.
I wasn't interested in continuing the conversation with him. I said, "This is between him and I, and it has nothing to do with you. If there's nothing else, I'm leaving."
