After thinking for a while, I said, "Are the hospitals under Doctor Saunders in trouble?"
He nodded. "He was the one who handled the patients' illnesses."
"Then, could it be..." I paused for a second, thinking about how my sentence sounded a little too suspicion- raising and quickly changed what I wanted to say, "How many years have you known Doctor Saunders for?"
He smiled. "We've known each other since college. Why did you ask? Suddenly interested in my past?"
I gave him a smile and continued asking, "So, how did you guys get so close to the point of trusting each other?"
A bond formed between people who had gone through hardships together would always be one that is strong and unforgettable.
I looked at his sharp jaw, and thought about how good-looking he was from this angle.
He frowned and said after a pause, "I'll tell you about these later on. Are you sleepy yet?"
It seemed like he was trying to avoid the subject, so I let it go. I merely hummed in response.
He did not say anything further.
His phone rang several times, but he ignored them. I cast a sideways glance and saw Andrea on the caller ID.
I couldn't help but frown. "How annoying!"
He frowned and switched the phone to silent mode, but I could still see it. The phone was just lying by his side. Even if it was silent, the phone screen would always light up every time she called.
Calls after calls came, greatly irritating me. "Can't you just answer it? It's getting very annoying."
After that, he hung up the phone and turned it off.
He looked at me and raised his eyebrows. "Happy?"
I rolled my eyes at him. "What's wrong with you?"
I then settled into bed. Hendrix followed and kissed me a few times.
It was getting late. I closed my eyes and was ready to sleep, but I suddenly noticed something amiss.
I pushed against Hendrix who was hugging me tightly and yelled, "Hendrix, what are you doing?"
