My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 400

Hendrix was confused. He followed behind me and asked in a deep voice, "What's wrong?"

"I'm sleepy!" I was about to head into the bathroom to wash up.

He pulled me towards him and frowned, "Arianna, if you have something to say, just say it."

"You've been out all day. Aren't you tired?" I wasn't angry. When I said this, I even deliberately smiled.

He narrowed his eyes and said coldly, "I'm not tired. Was I home too late?" He paused, "Sorry, I won't make you wait this long in the future. I'll try to finish my work quickly next time, okay?"

"No, your work is more important." I pushed him away and went into the bathroom.

Before I could close the door, he squeezed in. Seeing that I still didn't look very happy, he frowned, hugged me from behind, and put his chin on my shoulder.

He whispered, "Nothing is more important than you." As he said this, he kissed me.

The fragrance of another woman's perfume suffocated me, making me a little irritated. I shoved him away and pursed my lips. "Hendrix, please leave. I want to take a shower."

He said, "Let's shower together."

This lit up the flames of anger within me for a brief second. "Hendrix, do you not understand human language? I said I want to take a shower. You'll have to shower in the next room."

He pursed his lips. "What's going on? Why the sudden temper? How did I offend you?"

"Nothing!"

I didn't want to talk to him. If he didn't want to leave, then I would.

Seeing me sitting on the bed while reading a book, he walked up to me and asked, "Why are you reading the travel guide? Are you going somewhere?"

"I'm going to Mesville. It's been a long while since Monique and Ian went there but I haven't heard anything from them. So, I want to go and see how they're doing." I hadn't seen them since everything that happened; I hadn't even seen Sawyer and I didn't know how they were doing.

He nodded, took the travel guide from me, and said, "Stop looking at this guide, it's useless. I'm going to Mesville soon as well, so you can come with me."

"What are you going to do there?" There was so much work at the company, so how could he just up and leave?

He pursed his lips and kissed me on the forehead. "There's a problem with some hospitals there, so I have to go take a look at what's going on. The problem seems serious."

I was surprised to hear this. No wonder his phone kept ringing that day.

I had never taken Kelsey's words to heart before, but that's how people work. Once the seeds of suspicion are planted, they will start to sprout and grow uncontrollably.
