My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 2001

I pursed my lips and smiled. With a straight face, I reminded him. "Jennifer said that she would take over the president's position temporarily to let you rest. What do you think?"

"Sure." Hendrix nodded calmly. "It's settled then."

"I'll leave this to you." With that, he stood up and straightened his back. He extended an arm towards me. "Let's go, honey. Aurelia is at home. She's waiting for us."

Hendrix was much taller than me. I could just barely look him in the eye even though I was in high heels. His hand was at my chest level, deliberately expecting me to hook onto his arm.

I looked at his gesture and suddenly realized why he had been so indifferent earlier. It turned out that he had been holding a grudge for what had happened this morning.

Aaron was right. Although he had lost his memory, his temper hadn't changed.

I rolled my eyes, speechless. Since Jennifer was here, I had to let Hendrix have his way.

I stood up, raised my hand, and leaned against Hendrix with a smile. "Thank you for this, sorry for being such a trouble."

Jennifer smiled. She didn't chase after us.

Similar to when we walked into the Roberts Group, several employees were focused on Hendrix and me as we made our way out. Because we were much more intimate than before, there was a lot of gossiping.

"Goodness! I never thought I'd ever see the president being so close to a woman in my lifetime!"

"Is that his wife-to-be?"

"Things are changing. It seems there's no hope for the Forbes and Roberts Group merging in the future."

"This just proves that a back-up will always be a back-up. If a man doesn't love you, he will never make you a priority in his entire life. If he finds someone he likes, he will put all the rules aside for them."

A cool red sports car drove out from the garage.

I recognized it. The last time I went over to Jennifer's villa, I saw the same car in her yard. She must be the one driving.

Logically speaking, she had just stepped into the position of acting president. She should be busy dealing with piles of work. It was very inappropriate for her to leave the company so suddenly at this time.

Hendrix said with his deep voice, "Follow them."

As though he knew what I was thinking, he stared at the front of the car with his deep black eyes and said slowly, "A good hunter creates opportunities for his prey to move away from safety."

I looked at his side profile. The sun shone through the car window and lit up his entire body in a layer of light. For a brief moment, it felt like he hadn't actually lost his memories.

He was still the perfect businessman who was able to take control of the situation with ease.
