My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 1252

He nodded, looked at me with a sparkle in his eyes and he said, "It seems that I don't know you as well as I thought, Miss Reid!"

I ignored him, brought out a mop from the bathroom and cleaned up the blood on the ground before returning to the bedroom to await further news.

As I went up the stairs, Tobias opened his mouth and spoke, "I have another question. How can you be so sure that Hendrix is still alive?"

Looking back at him, I smiled and said, "Because he is my husband, no one knows him better than I do."

The corners of his mouth twitched. He looked at me, pursed his lips and said, "I don't want to hear you show off your affection. You'd better go back to your bedroom to rest!"

Back in the bedroom, I looked at the ring on my finger that had never been taken off. In fact, I had been shaken once or twice to believe that the body was indeed Hendrix. However, when I saw that there was no ring or ring mark on the finger of the body, I realized that it was not my husband.

Hendrix always wore his ring. Even if the ring was lost, there should be a mark on his finger, but the finger of that body was too clean.

It was so clean that there was no trace of a ring having ever been worn at all.

The only thing I could do now was to wait quietly for the investigation result from Sheridan, but the process of waiting was very torturous. It was impossible to sleep. Lying on the bed, I spent some time on my cell phone, but I could hardly bring myself to pay any attention at all.

Seeing the helplessness on her face, I couldn't help but ask, "Is it Tobias?"

She looked sideways at me and was stunned for a moment. Then, she smiled and asked, "Was it that obvious?"

I thought for a moment and said, "Not at all, I wasn't sure either. When I first saw you, I thought you were too young, and that you were more likely to be his aunt or sister. However, when he brought me away angrily, I reached a guess. Nevertheless, I was not sure whether my guess was right or not."

She looked at me and smiled. "I am his mother, a mother he doesn't want to accept. I can understand him. Any mother, if they can't bring glory to the child, they shouldn't bring shame to him either. However, I failed in both aspects. So, I can understand the reason why he doesn't want to get close to me," she spoke.
