My Four Miraculous Treasures novel Chapter 365

When Willow didn’t answer Lara’s call earlier, Lara didn’t try calling again.

Willow wondered what Lara and the children were doing and where they were.

Hence, she called Lara back.

The dial tone only rang once before the call went through. Unlike the usual where Lara would berate her the instant she picked up, she sounded oddly calm and solemn this time as if she had given up.

“Go on, tell me why you didn’t pick up this time. What important business are you up to now that you’ve tricked me and the kids into going back to the village?”

Willow felt guilty. She had Lara cooperate with her and take the children back to the village in a hurry without so much as an explanation.

She lied about Helen being hospitalized because she knew Lara would worry about Helen.

Lara and the children must have arrived at the village by now.

Willow was forced to sleep with Jasper last night and was currently being imprisoned at his home.

Despite her reluctance, she couldn’t escape the fate of becoming his secret lover who he kept at the side.

Willow felt aggrieved and miserable.

Yet, her dearest mother was now criticizing her.

It made her feel worse, but she could only suffer in silence.

She said softly, “Mom, is Aunt Helen doing alright?”

“She’s doing great, thanks to you. Now answer my question,” Lara said evenly without scolding her.

Willow was used to her mother being loud and aggressive with her words.

Lara’s unusually calm tone made her uncomfortable instead. She began to worry that something might have happened.

“Mom, I was just thinking that you and the children must be missing Aunt Helen. Since Rachel was around to help, I just made up an excuse so you would go since it was already at night and you might be reluctant to leave..”

“Don’t associate with him then. Why are you still with him when he looks down on you, refuses to marry you, and doesn’t like your children?” Lara raged.

Willow felt helpless. “It’s not like I want to. Capitalists are too powerful for us common folk to fight back.”

“Is he… forcing you?” Lara was shocked. She began to feel worried and frustrated for Willow.

“Mom, it’s too complicated for me to explain on the phone. Once I get back…”

Willow was about to explain when the door behind her opened. A chilling aura came rushing in.

The air around her seemed to stir as the pressure lowered.

Willow’s stiffened and she turned around to see a tall silhouette enter the room.

As the large shadow engulfed her, Willow’s heart stopped.
