The voice was firm and reassuring, growing clearer by the second. Vivian slowly opened her eyes, the tears on her lashes slipping down as she blinked to clear her vision.
Manfred's face came into focus. "Manfred…"
Concern filled his eyes, though his voice remained soft and soothing. "Did you have a nightmare?"
He had been there for a while, knocking without a response. Fearing she had left again, he entered and found her asleep, murmuring her parents' names.
She must have been missing them.
Gently, he comforted her until she finally stirred from her sorrowful dream.
Vivian, usually full of life around him, always laughing and unburdened, seemed fragile now. She was the type to smile through any storm, making it hard for him to see her sadness, even in sleep.
"I dreamed of Mom and Dad again, but no matter how much I tried to talk to them, they couldn't hear me." Vivian sat up, still feeling down. She really wished Skylar and Joe knew that she was okay.
She wanted to tell them she could find them and return to the modern world. Despite others' doubts, she never stopped believing they were alive.
Manfred gently patted her head. "We'll leave for Graystone the day after tomorrow. Once we're there, you'll be able to find them. You'll be able to tell them everything."
Vivian's mood brightened. "We can go to Graystone the day after tomorrow?"
"Yes, the day after tomorrow," Manfred replied, handing her a small red fruit.
Vivian had never seen it before. "What's this fruit?"
"It's a wild fruit from the mountain, only found near Hubril. It's in season now, and it has a sweet taste with no bitterness," Manfred explained, holding another in his hand.
On the way back earlier, Manfred noticed a street vendor selling wild fruit, but unfortunately, only two were left.
Manfred asked, "Do you feel like eating anything else now?"
Vivian nodded. "I'm a bit hungry."
Manfred smiled warmly. "Let's go. I'll take you to Parlay Restaurant."
Vivian remembered Parlay Restaurant, and her eyes lit up. "Yes, let's go!"
…
Parlay Restaurant bustled with life despite the night's deepening darkness. Crowds filled the space, with even more waiting outside.
Fortunately, Manfred had already made a reservation, so they headed straight to a private room on the third floor.

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
