Alger exhaled softly, his voice tinged with wonder. "Fate truly works in the most intricate ways."
The moment hung briefly before the sound of footsteps disrupted it, sharp and deliberate.
A curt question followed, laced with hostility. "Who are you?"
It was clear the question was directed at Vivian.
Thankfully, Vivian wasn't wearing her usual clothes today. She had opted for one of the outfits Manfred had prepared for her.
With her current appearance, Vivian remained composed even as others saw her. She turned her gaze toward Geneva, who had stormed in with an air of hostility.
Before Vivian could say anything, Manfred's cold voice cut through the tension. "Who she is doesn't concern you."
Glen frowned and looked at Geneva. "What are you doing here?"
"Grandpa, it's been days since I last saw you. I thought I'd come by to visit. I wasn't expecting to see Manfred here as well." Geneva's voice took on a soft, syrupy tone as she explained.
Despite her saccharine tone, her eyes never left Vivian. She had never seen such a stunning woman in Vlario before. But what truly unsettled her was Manfred. He seemed unusually protective of this stranger.
Though Manfred rarely visited Holland Residence in the past two years, Geneva always made a point to see him when he did. Yet every time, he treated her with cold indifference.
Sensing the tension, Glen decided it was best to keep Vivian's identity a secret. The fewer people who knew, the better.
"Geneva, I have matters to attend to here. You can visit another day," Glen said firmly, clearly dismissing her.
Vivian smiled politely at Geneva but said nothing.
Meanwhile, Geneva didn't expect even Alger to defend the unknown woman. She felt a bit humiliated and realized she couldn't stay any longer. "Ah, so she's your friend, Mr. Marshman Senior. I was being rude. My apologies."
Turning to Glen, she added, "Grandpa, I'll take my leave now."
"Alright," Glen replied with a nod. He didn't bother hiding the truth from himself anymore—Manfred's focus was solely on Vivian.
Geneva was undeniably talented and admired by many in Vlario's elite circles, but Manfred had never shown the slightest interest.
After Geneva left, Glen spoke again, his tone contemplative. "Now that everyone can see Vivian, it's important to address her public identity. If she's going to accompany you, Manfred, she must have an appropriate status. Otherwise, there will be unnecessary trouble."
Though they already lived under the same roof, the situation had changed now that Vivian was visible to others. Her reputation couldn't be compromised.

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
