At that moment, Manfred only had this emerald bracelet left, which he had hidden away to keep it from being taken by others.
Vivian had initially planned to refuse the gift, but as she watched the bracelet on her wrist slowly fade, a voice inside her urged her to accept it.
"Thank you! I love this bracelet. I won't pawn it. It must be very valuable," she said, a soft smile forming on her lips as she took it from him.
Once she accepted the bracelet, she thought Manfred likely wouldn't hesitate to make a request, nor would he feel shy about asking.
As she slid the bracelet onto her wrist, an unexpected vision flashed through her mind. She saw Joe and Skylar hiking up a mountain, smiling and waving at her.
A wave of longing washed over her, and her eyes began to fill with tears.
"I'm glad you like it." As Manfred spoke, his gaze was briefly caught by her fair wrist. His heart raced, and he quickly averted his eyes, feeling slightly uneasy.
"Yes, I do." Vivian's voice caught in her throat.
Manfred noticed the change in her expression. "Are you alright?"
"It's nothing. Some snow got into my eyes." She quickly wiped away her tears, trying to steady herself.
Checking the time on her watch, she stood up. "I have to go now. Take care of yourself in the next few days. Remember to take your medicine and eat on time. I'll bring you some other food next time."
Before Manfred could say anything, she disappeared from his sight. He stood there for a long moment, his hand still outstretched, frozen in mid-air. He hadn't had a chance to say goodbye.
For the first time in years, someone had told him to take care of himself. In this vast mansion, the people around him only sought to take what they could from him.
Vivian was the first person to care for him without any hidden motives. She was like a light that could warm his heart.
He wasn't sure how long he stood there, but eventually, his gaze shifted to the southwest, his eyes hardening with a coldness deeper than the winter now.
…
The housekeeping staff would take care of everything during the day. And when Vivian said she missed home, she clearly meant she missed Joe and Skylar.
To this day, the family still couldn't understand how a simple hiking trip had turned into tragedy. Joe and Skylar had vanished without a trace—no clues, no remains.
The police had deployed extensive resources to search, even combing through surveillance footage from the area, but nothing turned up.
"Your Uncle Charles just called me. He left some concert tickets for your Aunt Thelma's show. He said you should invite a few friends to go with you." Harvey, worried that Vivian might feel upset, quickly changed the subject.
Over the years, Thelma's fame had skyrocketed. She had truly showcased her incredible talent, starting with a theme song for a TV drama, then progressing to solo albums, and now headlining her own concerts.
Her concerts were notoriously hard to get tickets for. Every time they went on sale, they sold out almost instantly.
Vivian's face lit up. "That's amazing! Some of my friends are obsessed with her music, and I've been playing her songs on repeat every day."
Relieved to see her smile, Harvey added, "Your Uncle Charles said if you need more tickets, just let him know."

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
