After sending the message, Thelma took a cab to the hospital.
Upon arrival, she quickly found a doctor and paid the surgery fees for her grandmother, Maia Blair, and her brother, Calvert Johnston. She then visited them both.
Their burns were severe. After their parents died in a car accident years ago, it had just been the three of them, relying on each other. Now, Maia and Calvert had suffered in a fire.
She reassured them to wait patiently for the surgery and not to worry about her. Then, she returned to her rented apartment and tidied up the place.
Once she finished, she noticed she had several missed calls. Among them were calls from Warwick, some from other celebrities at her previous company, and one from her former manager, Prunella Tyler.
Prunella had always been good to her. Given her circumstances over the years, most agents would have given up, but not Prunella. Thelma ignored the other calls and immediately dialed Prunella back.
"Thelma, congratulations! I never expected you to break your contract with the company and sign with Charles' studio. And your new agent is Clement! With him backing you, no one will dare mess with you in this industry anymore. This is the opportunity you've been waiting for," Prunella exclaimed.
"Thank you, Ms. Tyler. You've done so much for me over the years," Thelma said sincerely.
"Honestly, I didn't do much. If I had been able to help you resolve things sooner, you'd be a star by now. But things are finally looking up for you. I saw Charles' post, and now everyone knows you've signed with him. Warwick won't be able to bother you anymore. I'm so happy for you," Prunella said warmly.
Thelma nodded. "He won't bother me anymore."
She was sure of this. With the risks and benefits laid out, Warwick wouldn't dare jeopardize his career by tangling with her further.
A few minutes later, Warwick called again. This time, Thelma picked up.
"Thelma! You've got some nerve, don't you? You got Charles to help you. Are you two together now? Did he make you do anything for this? Have you slept with him yet?" Warwick's voice was laced with frustration.
Thelma calmly replied, "Warwick, don't assume everyone is as despicable and shameless as you. Mr. Sullivan is nothing like you. He's a man of integrity who respects others.
Charles had been filming on set until nearly 11:00 pm. After removing his makeup and preparing to rest, he noticed a call from Warwick. Clearly, Warwick had contacted the crew to find out when Charles would be free.
Charles answered the phone with a cool indifference. "What is it?"
He had no real relationship with Warwick, and their last collaboration had left a bad taste in his mouth.
Warwick's voice dripped with sarcasm. "Mr. Sullivan, I'm sure you know why I'm calling. Do you even know what kind of person Thelma is? And yet, you signed her? Let's talk—how much is it to break that contract?"
Charles felt annoyed as he listened to Warwick's words, rolling his eyes in disbelief. "Do I look like someone short on cash?"
"So, you've made up your mind to help Thelma, then? Or should I say you have feelings for her?" Warwick pressed, his tone probing.

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
