In front of the restroom door, Elsie's heart was racing. Today, she would finally be able to see Joe. This time, he wouldn't be able to avoid her anymore.
She clutched the talisman in her hand.
This talisman had been given to her by the woman. All she had to do was slip it into Joe's clothing.
She had earlier noticed that the side pocket of his jacket would be the perfect spot for it. She could pretend it was an accident and slip it in there.
Just then, Joe walked out of the restroom.
She heard his footsteps. Timing it just right, she threw herself toward him.
"Ah! I'm sorry!"
After several rejections and failed attempts to get close, Elsie had learned from her mistakes. This time, she made sure it was Joe and that no one else was around before she threw herself at him without hesitation.
Joe was quick to step back but still allowed her to brush against his arm. The air around him seemed to freeze.
After stumbling to regain her balance, Elsie met Joe's gaze, which was cold enough to freeze her in place. She swallowed nervously.
"I… I didn't mean to. There's a stone here, and I didn't notice. I'm really sorry!
"And also, I want to apologize for disturbing you the past couple of days. I've been going through a lot recently. I had a nightmare and got all muddled up, unable to tell reality from dreams. I'm sorry for causing any inconvenience to you and your wife. I won't bother you again."
She said this carefully, glancing at Joe with caution. The woman had told her that as long as the talisman was on Joe, he would remember their past life experiences once they came into contact. She wouldn't have to work so hard to seek him out again.
He would come to find her, just like in the past life, and she could finally speak her mind without any worries.
Hearing her words, Joe was slightly surprised. He narrowed his cold eyes and stared at Elsie.
Elsie didn't understand why she felt guilty, but her heartbeat became uncontrollable after being stared at like that.
Elsie felt an inexplicable sense of guilt, which she couldn't quite describe. She panicked and quickly ran away, truly afraid that Joe might see through her.
When she collided with Joe earlier, his gaze was so cold and terrifying that it felt like her heart would leap out of her chest.
He'd looked like he wanted to kill her.
It was a look of complete disdain and even repulsion for her trying to get close to him. It stung like a slap to the face. She didn't want to feel so pathetic, so desperate for Joe's affection.
"You've done well. Don't worry. He'll remember everything soon. It'll happen in the next couple of days. He'll realize the truth about Skylar and come looking for you. Then. You'll be the one he loves the most.
"Anyone who dares to mess with you will regret it. Elsie, your good days are coming." The woman's voice grew more excited.
Elsie wasn't sure why, but something about it all felt off. She couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.
"Are you sure?" she asked.
The woman laughed. "I'm the one who made you remember your past life. I gave you the chance to know the truth so you wouldn't blindly follow Alban. Don't you trust me?"

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
