When Finn's question echoed in the air, Janine wasn't surprised.
"What does this have to do with me and the kids? You could use the property deed and the bank card to find someone willing to help. There's no need to come here and try to guilt-trip us. You owe the kids, not the other way around. Got it?"
Finn didn't care about who owed who. Right now, the only ones who could help his daughter were his three sons.
"I don't understand. For you, this is hardly a loss. But this could save a child's life. And afterward, we'll be in touch more often. They'll have a father and even a sister. Why not help? It's not such a big deal."
Hearing his words, Janine understood there was no point in saying more. She stood up and walked out of the café.
Finn watched her leave without a care, anger rising within him. He slammed his hand down on the table. The loud noise made those nearby frown.
The other patrons found him rude.
It was only then that Finn realized his outburst was a bit irrational. He grabbed his things, his face dark with frustration, and stormed out of the café.
By the time he reached the street, Janine was nowhere in sight. The more he thought about her attitude, the more furious he became. Just then, his phone rang.
"How did it go? Did she agree?" the voice on the other end asked.
Finn was silent for a moment.
He wasn't afraid his sons would refuse. But he was concerned whether his wife's method would work. He had been confident it would.
But after seeing the three sons and Janine, he felt that it wouldn't be as simple as he thought. There was a risk it could backfire.
…
Skylar was surprised when she received a call from Janine, telling her to come home. Janine didn't say much over the phone, just that they would talk when Skylar got home tonight.
Skylar then informed Joe that she would probably be home late since she had to visit Janine first.

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
