Suddenly, Janine realized that her past thoughts seemed a bit laughable. The person she had wronged the most was herself. Finn was not worth it.
Finn was left speechless.
Finn had initially thought that coming to Janine would make things easier, but he hadn't expected her to have changed so much. She was no longer as easy to deceive.
But now, he couldn't back down.
In his panic, he didn't know what to do and suddenly grabbed Janine's hand. "I know I was wrong, Janine."
Janine immediately pulled her hand away. She couldn't accept any man touching her except for Ted now.
"Whatever right or wrong doesn't matter anymore. Don't bother us anymore. Let's go our separate ways."
When Janine said "let's go our separate ways", Finn suddenly felt that Janine was still kind at heart.
He thought there might still be a place for him in her heart, and that she was just angry at him for abandoning her for 20 years.
"Before I came to see you, I already decided to compensate you. I have a villa and a bank card with one million dollars. These are my way of making up for everything," Finn said as he took a property deed and a bank card from his bag.
"The pin code for the bank card is your birthday. The villa is in Jipsburg, not far from here. It's about a 40-minute drive."
Janine glanced at the kindness in Finn's gestures and subtly raised an eyebrow. An old saying came to mind—a fox in the henhouse.
She knew there was some ulterior motive behind his sudden generosity. "So, what is it you really want from us?"
Finn took a deep breath. From his expression, it was clear that he thought these two offerings might sway Janine. He spoke earnestly, "My request is simple. I want Steven, Charles, and Harvey to go to the hospital and get a blood test."
"It's my daughter. She needs help from her three brothers. After all, she's their sister. If they help her now, she'll acknowledge them later," Finn explained hurriedly.
Janine scoffed. "They have a sister. They don't need one they've never met. This ends here. I'll make it clear—I won't agree to this." She stood up abruptly.
She glanced at the house deed and the bank card on the table. "Honestly, these things you brought out? It's insulting. Take them and get as far away as you can."
"Janine!" Finn stared at her in disbelief.
The woman in front of him, full of anger and contempt, was nothing like the gentle, kind one he remembered.
"You're not this heartless. Can you really watch a child even younger than Charles die? For Steven and the others, it's just a small favor," Finn demanded, his voice filled with frustration.

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
