Chapter 530 A Slap in the Face
Violet smiled at Faye when she discerned the appreciation in the latter's eyes.
The car moved slowly on the road. Violet pressed her lips and tilted her head to look at Faye.
Faye perceived Violet's gaze from the corner of her eye and asked, "What's the matter?"
Violet replied, "Could you please not tell Ethan about this?"
Faye replied, "Okay."
Violet's worries dissipated. She secretly heaved a sigh of relief and said, "Thank you."
Faye smiled brightly.
They then arrived at the Theatre of Alogow District. Faye parked the car, walked to the door to the passenger's seat, and then helped Violet out of the car.
Violet jumped forward with the support of the crutch and said, "Faye, let's act separately later."
Faye chuckled and replied, "Pay attention to the wound on your foot."
Violet nodded and said, "Okay."
Violet had bought a ticket on her phone in advance and therefore, no one stopped her when she entered the theater.
Nonetheless, Violet didn't take the seat she bought. Instead, she found a seat among the vacant seats in the last few rows, which would not cause others' attention.
After helping Violet sit down, Faye moved her lips and said, "I'll go to the backstage area. Feel free to call me if you have any problems."
Violet looked up at her and said, "Be careful."
Faye replied, "Rest assured."
Faye had never watched a dance competition, nor had she watched any dance performances. When she walked to the backstage area, she glanced at the dancer who was performing with her utmost effort on the stage.
She had to admit that the dancing art was very aesthetic.
Just as Faye reached the backstage area, a working staff blocked her way and asked, "Which person are you looking for?"
Faye replied calmly, "Saylor Brooke."
The working staff glanced at her doubtfully and said, "What's your relationship with him?"
Faye replied, "We're friends."
The working staff said, "One of our dancers had an accident several days ago, so now we forbid any unrelated people to enter the backstage area. Please wait here and I'll ask Saylor to go out."
Faye replied, "Thank you, and sorry for bothering you."
The working staff felt a bit awkward in the face of Faye's politeness. He scratched his head, turned around, and walked into the backstage area.
After a short while, a boy in his early twenties walked out of the backstage area.
The boy was dumbfounded when he saw Faye. He asked, "Are you looking for me?"
Faye asked, "Are you Saylor Brooke?"
The boy nodded and replied, "Yes."
Hearing the conversation between the two, the working staff who stood behind them asked, "Aren't you friends? Don't you know each other?"
The boy replied righteously, "Yep, we're net friends. And it's the first time we meet."
The working staff gave the boy a thumbs-up.
The boy said frivolously, "You may go on with your work. Don't disturb me and this beautiful lady."
When Faye walked to the auditorium, the judges were announcing the list of competitors who were advanced to the next round.
Faye glanced at the excited dancers on the stage, strode to Violet, and then sat down beside her.
Violet looked as gentle as usual. She raised her chin and said, "Look at the dancer in the middle. She's the one who caused the injury on my foot."
Faye looked toward the stage and then commented, "She's not as outstanding as you."
Violet asked, "How do you know?"
Faye replied, "If she's more outstanding than you, she would not have resorted to that filthy trick to set you up."
Violet didn't deny it. She chimed in teasingly, "Your analysis makes sense."
Faye said with a smile, "Yep."
When they were talking, the judge finished the announcement of the list. Dancers who were successfully promoted to the next round took two steps forward and bent to show their appreciation.
Right at this moment, a video was suddenly played on the screen behind them.
The judges and audience were all astonished. Then there came an uproar.
In the video, Violet who was in a black, figure-fitting dance dress bent to take off her dance shoes and then put them into the shoe cabinet. But someone called her name outside the door before she locked the cabinet.
Violet replied, "I'm coming." Shortly after she left, a woman walked to the shoe cabinet and then tempered with her dance shoes.
In the next scene, Violet who sprained her ankle went back to the lounge and a woman talked a lot of nonsense to provoke her.
Enduring the pain, Violet asked in a gentle yet calm, tenacious voice, "Did you temper with my dance shoes?"
With her arms folded before her chest, the woman stared at Violet and said with a sarcastic smile, "Yep. What's wrong? Do you want to sue me? But do you have any evidence?"
