My Exchanged Mate novel Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Five days remained before I escaped from the Silvermoon Pack.

By now, I could easily tell Damien and Ryan apart.

Damien was cold and aloof, rarely smiled.

Ryan was gentle and playful, with a mole on his “V-line” abs that moved seductively when we were intimate.

I didn’t know whether Damien had that mole, because we never slept together.

That morning, as I headed downstairs, Damien was sitting by the stairs, reading the newspaper with gold-rimmed glasses

“Tessa, dress nicely today. We have guests coming,” he said coolly.

Reading the paper early in the morning, wearing gold glasses, speaking with that cold tone, this was definitely the real

Damien.

I went upstairs to change.

At noon, Ryan arrived with Ella.

Seeing Ryan, who looked exactly like Damien, I feigned surprise, flashing a perfectly timed look of astonishment.

Damien introduced them, “This is my twin brother. He just returned from studying in Greyminster.”

Ryan took the initiative to reach out his hand. “Hello.”

I shook his hand. “Hello.”

I smiled and said, “I didn’t think you two really looked identical.”

Ryan’s expression didn’t soften even a bit; his smile was gentle and innocent. “There’s a lot you don’t know.”

Sometimes, I really admired Ryan, after sleeping with me so many times, he still acted like we were strangers.

Ella laughed, “I don’t need an introduction. Tessa and I were roommates in college.”

She tugged at my arm actively. “I heard you’re about to seal the mate bond. Can I be your bridesmaid?”

I looked at her and smiled, “Of course you can.”

Just then, the chef came over to tell us the food was ready.

At the dining table, Ella sat between Damien and Ryan.

She propped up her chin, smiling brightly, and asked, “Tessa, have you noticed Damien acting differently lately?”

I knew exactly why she asked that on purpose.

She just wanted to see me make a fool of myself.

So I played right into her hands.

I put down my fork and nodded, “Yeah, he’s definitely changed a lot this year.”

At that moment, the world seemed to pause.

They all froze for a moment.

Especially Damien and Ryan, their faces tensed up.

I suddenly laughed softly, cheeks flushed slightly.

“He’s been treating me better, and I think I’m starting to like him more.”

Damien glanced at Ryan, his expression darkening.

During the meal, Ryan naturally picked up a piece of salmon and placed it into my plate, affectionately saying, “Baby, I

picked out the bones for you.”

The next second, we all froze.

He suddenly also seemed to realize something too but remained calm.

“Sorry, I heard Damien say he liked calling you that. It just slipped out.”

I nodded, signaling it didn’t bother me, and lowered my head to eat the salmon, unable to help but smile faintly.

Damien shot Ryan a warning look.

Then I frowned.

The salmon was fishy.

A wave of nausea hit me. I immediately covered my mouth and hurried to the bathroom.

After vomiting, Ella looked at me with a knowing smile.

“Could it be morning sickness?”

Damien and Ryan’s eyes both landed on me at once.

“No, I’ve just been having some stomach issues lately.” I dismissed.

Damien put down his fork, his smile fake and cold.

“If you’re not feeling well, you should stick to bland food.”

That night after dinner, Damien and Ryan left together to escort Ella home.

He came back very late

When he returned, he headed straight to the shower

I wasn’t quite sure if it was Damien or Ryan taking that shower.

I spotted the phone left on the bedside table.

On impulse, I picked it up.
