His Innocent Sera novel Chapter 42

The silhouette charged toward them, emanating furious energy. Sera froze in his arms, paralysed by intense panic. The lightning streaked through the sky, flashing across his eyes, seething with raw fury, locked on them with deadly intent.

She heard a shrill scream piercing the air, only to realise it was her own.

In a flash, Giovanni was torn away from her, Sera stumbled backward from the sheer force. Nate's fist crashed into Giovanni's jaw with a sickening crack. His jaw was firmly clenched, eyes narrowed in a slit as he drove his fist into Giovanni's rib, knocking the air out of his lungs. The rain seemed to have intensified, but it couldn't drown Gio's screams of agony as Nate thrashed him brutally. After beating him unconscious, Nate got off him.

Sera felt the soul flee her body as he turned towards her. Eyes blazing pits of hell, his face contorted into a vicious snarl of fury as he advanced towards her. Every stride echoed with promise of destruction, his shoulders hunched in a predatory stance. It was difficult to see through the darkness, but her hyper alert senses managed to make out his raging figure. She shrunk back into the tree trunk, scared to her core.

She forgot to breathe as he stopped a step short, looming over her like the death angel, ready to snuff the flickering flame of her life. Forcing down the bile in her burning throat, she opened her dry mouth to explain.

"I..I..," The words barely left her mouth when his palm struck her cheek, snapping her head sideways. A searing pain throbbed beneath her skin, the sting deepening into a fierce throb, bringing tears to her eyes. A wracking sob tore from her throat.

Indifferent, he seized her jaw in a brutal grip, forcing her to meet his gaze.

"Do you think I am that naive?" he growled dangerously, resembling a bloodthirsty beast. His fingers dug painfully into her flesh, squeezign harder, almost breaking her bone and continued, "You thought you can fool me, whore yourself out to this shitbag and I wouldn't know?" he closed in on her, his eyes glowing with a deranged, piercing glint as he promised the last part in a malicious whisper, "You let him touch what's mine. Now, get ready to watch as I drain the life out of him."

Sera's eyes widened in a mix of disbelief and horror upon hearing his declaration. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she shook her head vigorously. Desperation etched itself across her quivering features. She wanted to speak, but his grip on her mouth prevented her.

"I'll show you the consequences of betraying me," he hissed, staring down at her with spite. He jerked her jaw aside with a sharp flick as if the mere touch of her disgusted him. He pivoted, stalking towards the crumpled body nearby.

And then he drew a dagger from his waistband. She clamped a hand over her mouth, eyes wide with terror.

"No..no...don't do this," she screamed, raw panic filling her voice. But Nate was unstoppable. Driven by jealousy he was dead set on ripping apart his existence for putting his filthy hands on her.

He stood over his fallen figure and eyed him with unrelenting hostility.

"Tell me, what is it about this pathetic clown that has captivated?" Nate demanded loudly. Sera shook her head, feeling out of her depth. At that moment, Gio’s eye fluttered open, his body shifting uneasily as a ragged wheeze escaped his lips. Nate clenched his jaw as a fresh wave of jealousy surged through him. Was it his eyes? he wondered.

"His eyes?" he spat, spitefully. Gio's eyes grew large in horror the moment he noticed his towering frame. Without hesitation, he swung the dagger in a ruthless arc. The sharp edge of his danger caught the moonlight before he drove the blade straight through Gio’s left eye. A sickening squelch filled the air, followed by Sera and Gio's bloodcurdling screams.
