Nate returned in the evening, calmer and cooler. After venting his anger in the ring, his mind was finally clear to conceive rational thoughts. He realised not everything can be achieved by force. This situation called for a gentler approach. He decided to speak with Sera again. This time, he will keep his anger in check.
He frowned at the sight of the open door. How many times had he told her to keep the door locked, but she just wouldn't listen. As he approached the apartment, his ears picked up on incoherent murmurs, causing his frown to deepen. Then he heard it. A man’s voice. Inside. And that’s when he lost it.
Come with me
He overheard. Muscles coiled, veins constricted— a murderous rage exploded within him, turning his vision red. He charged inside, grabbed the vase from the table, and smashed it over his head. Sera scrambled away, screaming, eyes wide in horror.
Mr. Jang staggered, clutching his bleeding head as he turned. His gaze locked on Nate, eyes flaring, caught between recognition and the sudden, raw fear.
Nate's eyes flashed— wild, unhinged, burning with murderous intent.
"You shouldn't have come here," he snarled dangerously, then drove his tightly clenched fist into Mr. Jang’s face, the crack of bone unmistakable. Mr. Jang crumpled to the floor, groaning in pain. Nate towered above him like a dark angel, chest heaving and blood dripping from his knuckles.
Mr. Jang dragged himself backward, fear written across his face. But Nate wasn't done yet, not even closer. His bloodlust wouldn't quench until he had shredded him alive. She was his. For even thinking he could pull her from his arms, that bastard’s soul would bleed forever.
"You think you can save her from me?" he sneered, a mad gleam danced in his eyes as he stepped closer. "She doesn't need saving." he bent down to his level and said possessively, "She only needs me. Only me. I am her everything." His voice held a chilling certainty.
In the gleam of the shard Nate raised, Mr. Jang glimpsed his end. This was it.
But before he could plunge the splinter into his flesh, Sera rushed forward and shoved him hard. She promptly stood between them, shielding Mr. Jang from his view.
"Move aside," Nate growled in warning.
"No. Leave him alone," Sera refused, her wobbly legs remained rooted to the spot. She wouldn't let him kill Mr. Jang.
"Clear the fucking way," he seethed, his eyes locked onto her, unflinching. Despite her quivering nerves, she stood her ground. This time, she couldn't afford to submit. She had to confront him, or Mr. Jang would lose his life.
"No," Sera responded, her voice steady and certain. Little did she know, her standing up for him was only feeding his rage.
"He did no… nothing wro… wrong," Sera stammered, her voice trembling as he advanced on her. Her panicked gaze darted between his approaching footsteps and the cold fury on his face. "He… he’s innocent," she forced out, features softening into pleading, just as he stopped a step away. He looked unconvinced, even angrier if possible.
"I am going to give him an end so cruel even the death angel will weep for him," he disclosed, jealousy coated his words thick. She was trying to protect him, but now he'll tear him apart limb from limb, and she'll bear witness to it.
