His Innocent Sera novel Chapter 36

As if having sensed his anger, the world around them fell into complete stillness. The birds stopped singing, the leaves ceased their rustling, and even the air seemed to hold its breath. All she could hear was the faint rush of the stream in the short distance and her pounding heartbeat.

She caught the annoyance filling his features before he pulled away and sat up, his shoulders locked with growing tension. A flicker of unease stirred within her as she mimicked his action. His face was turned away from her.

"Get up. We are leaving," he muttered irritably before getting up. She quietly got to her feet.

Without sparing her so much as a glance, he began walking towards the gate.

Sera exhaled a small sigh. She knew he wouldn't agree. He was a cruel, heartless monster. Expecting humanity from him was akin to expecting warmth from ice. It's against his nature.

She reluctantly sat down in the passenger seat, dread twisting in her guts. She feared him more when he stayed quiet instead of lashing out at her. His movements were sharp and cold as he yanked the gear into place, his knuckles turning white from his iron grip on the steering wheel. He was mad.

The car roared to life, interrupting her scrutiny of him. He slammed his foot on the gas, and the car lurched forward violently, throwing her against the dashboard. She gasped, startled. She set her palm against the dashboard in time to keep herself from hurting. He remained indifferent, gazing ahead as if nothing had happened. Her eyes growing wide in shock and dread as the tires screeched against the pavement.

He sped up recklessly. Swerving past cars with ruthless precision, barely avoiding the clash. Sera had her heart in her mouth.

"Slow down," she choked out anxiously. The world was passing them in a blur, the speedometer close to breaking. He didn't respond or offer any assurance.

Just then, a sudden turn had her body jerking sideways, barely caught by the seatbelt. Her pulse hammered against her veins, cold fear coiling in her stomach. She gripped the door handle instinctively, cold sweat clung to her skin. Her breath was fast and uneven.

Pure horror crashed over her as he veered the vehicle onto the wrong side of the road.

"No..no..no..we'll die," she stuttered, gaping ahead on the vehicles dashing towards them. Color drained down her face when she caught a giant truck coming headfirst towards them. Instead of dodging it, he was speeding car right in its direction. Desperation took over— she gripped his arm and shook him to get his attention, "move..move.." Her voice was dripping with sheer desperation.

Just when the truck was going to collide with them, he swerved, narrowly escaping their doom. Sera just kept gazing ahead, shocked and frozen.

He pulled up before her house and fixed her with a lethal glare. Sera sat rigid, staring blankly ahead, her skin as white as sheet. She was yet to recover from the trauma he had put her through.

"Get out," he snarled, causing her dazed gaze to drift slowly towards him. He looked as if her mere presence was scraping against a raw wound. She looked away and reached out for the door. But before she could open it, his fingers wrapped around her nape. In an instant, he yanked her toward him, snapping her face to meet his gaze.

There was nothing but horror flashing in her eyes. And his screamed rage.

"Escape isn't an option for you—you should know that by now," he growled, looking dead in her eyes. Her only response was a teardrop trailing down her left eye.

"Now get the fuck out," he said, his voice cold as he released her. Sobbing, she gripped the door handle and opened the door with her trembling fingers while he continued to glare ahead at the road as if it were his greatest enemy. She took the bag from the backseat and turned towards her home.

He drove off, burning the car through the road.

........

She was making fucking excuses to get away.

He threw the dumbbell against the mirror, shattering it into pieces. Breathing heavily, he watched as the splinters rained down, his veins pulsating with unchecked rage. Rejection burned through him like a burning shard. A mixture of frustration and rage surged through him, making him want to destroy the whole world. He always grappled with his anger, but whenever it was about her, he would lose his sanity completely. A fierce madness would grip him, blinding him to reason.
