Hebrew had come today with the crew, originally intending to follow up on the curse surrounding Faye.
As for what the curse actually was, she had no idea. She assumed it would just be some small rituals—burning sage smudge sticks or digging up graves, maybe something along those lines.
Who would have thought that in less than an hour after entering the village, the grand hall would be reduced to ashes?
When they arrived, they saw a group of people gathered outside the hall, crying and wailing. Among them were both men and women.
The men seemed relatively calm, but the women were behaving strangely. They cried and laughed at the same time, their faces a mixture of emotion.
Faye, in particular, stood out. Once a bright and glamorous C-list celebrity, she had lost all semblance of her polished image.
She sat on the ground, her makeup and hair disheveled, her face streaked with tears. But despite the tears, there was a smile on her lips—one that was bittersweet, almost as if she were relieved and freed from something long-burdening.
When Zeno saw her, he dashed to her side. "Faye!"
Hearing his voice, Faye reacted as if she had been pulled back to reality. With a tear-stained face, she looked at him, threw herself in his arms, and wailed without reservation.
"Zeno… Zeno, I'm free! We're… We're finally free…" she sobbed.
Hearing her loud cry, the group of women who had been silently shedding tears couldn't hold back any longer. They, too, began to weep uncontrollably.
The chaos left the livestream audience utterly confused. Instinctively, they asked, "Where's Shannon?"
Seeing the most-asked question in the livestream chat, Hebrew belatedly asked, "Where's Ms. Jensen?"
As she spoke, she instructed the cameraman to look for Shannon.
Amid her cries, Faye suddenly looked up and said, "Ms. Jensen… is still in there with Mr. Cooper."
Shannon noticed the camera and realized that the livestream was still on. She didn't bring up how Benjamin had just teleported her out of the fire.
Seeing that she was fine, the audience collectively sighed in relief, feeling like they had unnecessarily worried. After all, with her abilities, even fire couldn't touch her.
Upon hearing her voice, Alistair struggled to push his way through the crowd. He knew the livestream was live, and as soon as he caught sight of Shannon, he pointed at her, his eyes wide with rage, and accused her loudly.
"It's her! This woman… deliberately destroyed the grand hall! You've tarnished the honor of the Drakenshade clan, and you've gone too far!"
Some of the clan members who had escaped from the grand hall already knew that Shannon had caused the lightning strike that set the fire. However, when they thought about the corpses buried beneath the hall, their resentment toward Shannon seemed less justified.
On the other hand, the villagers who had been guarding the village entrance, unaware of the events that transpired inside the hall, now heard Alistair accuse Shannon of deliberately setting the fire.
Anger quickly spread across their faces. They couldn't understand the full context, but Alistair's accusation was enough to fuel their fury.
