As they gazed at the cracked floor, a faint glimpse of skeletons emerged beneath the stone tiles. These were the remains of the women that Shannon had just mentioned—buried beneath the grand hall.
The young clan members, who had previously been skeptical of such stories, were now paralyzed with fear at the sight before them. The reality of the horrific past they had been unknowingly complicit in hit them all at once, and the terror on their faces was palpable.
One screamed, "The sacred hall is about to collapse!"
It was as if a warning had sounded, and the clan members panicked and stopped caring about anything else. They grabbed or pulled at each other, a mass of people scrambling toward the exit.
In the blink of an eye, the grand hall was left with only Shannon, Benjamin, and Alistair.
Benjamin's gaze was fixed on the skeletons emerging from the ground, with the faint movement of the cursed creatures wriggling within them.
His brow furrowed deeply, and with a subtle motion of his fingers, the golden light barrier shot down toward the ground. It enveloped something, and then, with a flick of his hand, he gathered it all up.
Witnessing the cracks spreading across the stone pillars and feeling the hall's once-strong energy now rapidly dissipating, Alistair glared at Shannon, his eyes filled with rage.
His voice trembled with fury as he spat, "You… How dare you…"
Shannon looked at him with cold yet serene eyes, laced with a hint of disdain and indifference.
"This isn't all," she said, shifting her mudra and instantly drawing a talisman in the void. She chanted, "With all laws reduced to flame commands my divine power…"
The clouds above rapidly gathered, forming a thick black mass. In an instant, dark thunderclouds enveloped the grand hall.
Hebrew and her crew, who had been in a tense standoff with the villagers, suddenly seemed to realize something. Their eyes lit up with understanding, and without a second thought, they broke through the villagers' blockade, charging toward the direction where the storm clouds were gathering.
Outside the grand hall, the clan members who had just fled stopped in their tracks. They turned instinctively, and as their eyes landed on the swirling black clouds above, they were frozen in shock, their eyes wide with terror.
Faye, still lost in the overwhelming grudge energy, was being pulled back by other women trying to stop her from rushing further inside.
Just then, a bolt of lightning streaked across the dark clouds.
"With the talisman as my seal, with thunder as my guide…" Shannon's voice somehow traveled into her ears from the grand hall. "By the decree of pardon, all shall burn and roar!"
Inside the hall, Alistair watched helplessly as the chastity plaque, a symbol of his clan's honor, was shattered into countless pieces by the fire lightning. Still, that wasn't the end.
The fire lightning continued to strike, and the lightning flames immediately set the hall ablaze. Within moments, the entire hall was engulfed in a raging inferno.
Unable to control his emotions, Alistair screamed in despair, desperately trying to stop the destruction. However, several of the clan members rushed in, pulling him out of the hall as it burned.
Meanwhile, Shannon stood silently, watching as the grudges and curses trapped in the stone plaque were finally erased. A sense of relief washed over her face.
Benjamin gazed at her, asking, "Is this enough?"
"It is," she said.
That was precisely the women's wishes.
He nodded, no longer said another word, and reached out to hold her hand. The next second, their figures disappeared within the fiery flames.
