Due to the black smoke and the disruption of the dream, the Stone Turtle couldn't detect the energy of the people before him. The tail, brimming with a sharp, menacing force, was ready to strike toward the two figures.
Instinctively, Shannon pulled Benjamin and retreated a step. At the same time, she channeled her supernatural strength to stop the incoming force.
The barrier formed by the gathered supernatural power collided with the Stone Turtle's tail. As the force dissipated, Benjamin's voice rang out, stern and commanding, as he shouted at the Stone Turtle.
"Hey, Stone Turtle!"
The familiar yet commanding voice oozed with a friendly presence, and the Stone Turtle froze in its actions. When it turned around and saw the two figures before it, it couldn't help but tilt its head.
Was this… real?
Its lack of movement made Shannon understand that its judgment had been disrupted by the black smoke. When she shifted her gaze to the severed leg in its mouth, she dazedly pointed at it and asked, "Is this… the Dreambeast's foot?"
As she spoke, she reached out. The Stone Turtle seemingly knew her intention and unhesitatingly relaxed its jaw. She successfully retrieved the Dreambeast's severed leg, still in disbelief at the sight.
The Dreambeast, as legend had it, had the trunk of an elephant, the eyes of a rhinoceros, the tail of an ox, and the feet of a tiger.
Well, that foot certainly belonged to a tiger. But to think the Stone Turtle's combat strength was so formidable that it actually managed to bite off the Dreambeast's leg—just what?
The Stone Turtle spat out a few fur strands from its mouth, glancing at Shannon, then at Benjamin, and nodded. If it weren't for the interference of this strange black smoke, it could've easily bitten off its head.
Shannon stared at the severed leg before her, contemplating the current situation. Just as she was about to speak to Benjamin, her gaze froze.
She watched in shock as the golden light surrounding Benjamin visibly faded, almost as if it were evaporating before her eyes.
Within a few breaths, all the golden light had vanished, and Benjamin's form stood clearly in front of her, unguarded and exposed.
"What's wrong?"
It was also then Atlas reappeared. Forget the humiliation of being beaten to a pulp earlier—his eyes now gleamed with a sense of triumph.
"Of course, this isn't an illusion. Although the dream is fake, I have the power of rules. In other words, I can turn illusions into reality.
"Also, there's another layer to the interaction with the Dreambeast's dream, something even more intriguing. Do you know what it is?"
Atlas said, not waiting for Shannon's response, as he raised his hand. With another sharp snap of his fingers, a second Black Stone Turtle emerged from the surrounding black smoke.
Then came a third… and a fourth. Soon, eight Stone Turtles surrounded Shannon, Benjamin, and the original Stone Turtle in a tight circle.
Atlas appeared satisfied by his masterpiece. "In dreams, everything is possible."
His black smoke had the power to turn these illusions into tangible beings. Even though Shannon's demon bone power wasn't affected by his black smoke, she couldn't escape the rule-bound dreamscape controlled by both him and the Dreambeast.
