Nothing could bring Sylvia more comfort than the word "Isolde", so she instinctively chose to trust them.
Shannon and Skylar took the chance to get her into the car.
Just then, police officers in charge of the raid finally caught up. They immediately recognized the group as the ones who'd made the call. As per standard procedure, they needed to take the group in for questioning.
Shannon saw them approach and instinctively shielded Sylvia with her coat. Then, she pulled out her identification card and handed it over.
"We're with the Special Security Agency. We came looking for someone and happened to discover this place. Our department will follow up with the police in a bit."
The officer was briefly stunned by the mention of the Special Security Agency. He was about to press further when the police chief leading the raid arrived.
"We won't interfere if this is an operation by the Special Security Agency, but we appreciate your help in taking down this underground casino."
They'd seen the gang bound up tightly, especially the scar-faced leader, who looked like he'd been struck by lightning. It made sense that the Special Security Agency had stepped in.
Shannon gestured toward the small fry of Black Smoke Organization. "This one uses dark arts, so we're taking him with us. We'll send his details to the police in a bit."
After wrapping up their conversation with the police, Shannon and the others got into the car and left.
…
Once they returned to the city, Shannon took Sylvia straight to the hospital. The latter needed a full medical examination and IV nutrition therapy.
Arenvale Security Branch Agency had made prior arrangements with the hospital. Every test and medical staff member involved had been briefed on confidentiality.
Even so, the medical team couldn't help but flinch when they saw Sylvia in person.
When Isolde arrived and grasped Sylvia's hand, it was the first time the latter did not instinctively recoil. The frail aged hand carried a warmth just as she remembered.
Though she could see nothing, she recognized it immediately, just as the blind Isolde knew without a doubt they'd found Sylvia the moment she held her hand.
Shannon watched as the "grandmother-granddaughter" duo tightly embraced each other. She stood in silence for a while before pulling Tortoise the System from her bag.
Compared to last night when it'd been energized from absorbing the black smoke, the system now looked utterly deflated. "Shannon, swear that you will find a way to restore my energy when we get back! And don't forget about changing my host body!"
Hearing this, Shannon solemnly nodded. "I will."
Skylar and Zane didn't understand what was happening, but Benjamin noticed the faint dark circles under Shannon's eyes. She clearly hadn't slept all night.
He frowned slightly and watched as Shannon stepped forward. Then, she pulled out a tortoise sticker from her bag and held it up to the system.
