On the other end of the line, Skylar fell silent for a second at Shannon's question. His gaze swept across Bella's face on the tablet screen. "You suspect Bella Ford is Maya?"
If anything, he would be the person who knew Maya the best. Considering Shannon had noticed the similarities between her and Bella, he, too, wasn't excluded. He simply couldn't be sure because he hadn't met her yet.
Besides, if Shannon's assumption turned out to be true… How did Maya become a completely different person? What happened to her originally blocked spiritual energy?
Skylar considered countless questions, but he quickly answered, "After she was exiled from Jamborough, Warren instructed an elder in our clan to settle her in a foreign city. I'll ask around and see if she's still there."
With that, he ended the call.
While Shannon waited for an update from Skylar, she turned around to look at the monkey demon on a leash. Although it was a legitimate primate, it would surely attract a crowd's attention if she brought it back to the city like this.
She grabbed her phone and prepared to call Thomas to arrange an exotic animal transport service. She could only take matters into her own hands, considering Carmine hadn't reached out to her through the Demon Control Agency.
A monkey demon unable to transform into a human had no choice but to rely on animal transport service, as taking public transportation was simply out of the question.
While she was talking, a monkey with a hooded head appeared from behind her. Before, it had only tugged at the chain to get her attention, but now it was right up close, even reaching out to tug at the corner of her coat.
Shannon lowered her head and saw the hooded head tilt upward, revealing a somewhat eerie pale face. It grinned widely and looked at her with eager eyes. One hand rubbed its stomach before reaching out and pointing at its mouth.
Though it was an enlightened demon, it couldn't speak yet.
Despite that, she effortlessly read its mind and expressionlessly said, "I can't take you to a restaurant when you look like that."
The white-faced saki, lowering its head, revealed a disheartened expression. Once again, it flashed its hooded head at her. She stared at its head for a while before resignedly opening the delivery app on her phone.
It shrieked, making a series of desperate and furious yells. Having received the takeout, the chauffeur trembled slightly at the ruffled monkey.
It wasn't because of the food, was it?
Shannon had no idea what happened to it either. Suddenly, she remembered something and turned to look at the delivery guy riding off. Just as she was about to ask, she suddenly sensed a familiar energy.
The next second, the delivery guy seemingly ran into an invisible barrier and collapsed to the ground with his vehicle, unable to get up.
When she shifted her gaze, Reuben appeared beside her at one point, explaining, "It's trying to say that that's one of the people who had trafficked it from Jamborough to Seastone."
Meanwhile, the monkey demon settled down immediately in Reuben's presence. It nodded at Shannon and pointed at the fallen delivery guy, its expression dark.
