Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 1408

At the same time on the other side of the alternate world, Eddie stepped out of his car in visible dejection.

The meeting with the company that had extended him an invitation hadn't gone well.

"We can sign your animal deity EddieMystery account, but you have to rebrand according to our company's policy after the contract.

"Mystic arts aren't real, and the same is true for deities. Nobody believes in this stuff anymore, and not even the older generation.

"It's fine as a gimmick to attract fans from the start, but you can't keep it up. Your follower count is dropping daily. We can save it if you sign with us, but only if you follow our plan."

Eddie tried to push back. "I still want to keep my animal deity account."

The person in charge turned him down without hesitation. "No. Either sign with us and rebrand or hold onto your sinking account and deal with the fallout. Think it over."

As Eddie replayed the words in his head, he glanced at the sky. His slightly chubby face filled with confusion.

"Is mystic arts really not real…" he muttered to himself and trudged in the direction of his house.

Walking along the shaded path in his neighborhood, he suddenly heard a faint whimpering noise like a small animal's.

It was working hours, and the neighborhood was mostly empty. Eddie followed the sound and eventually spotted a pure white Samoyed lying in the bushes…

Wait no, it wasn't a Samoyed.

Eddie's eyes lit up instantly at the sight of the creature. It was the Fox Deity!

The Fox Deity he'd been longing for had finally come to him!

Eddie looked around and called out softly, "Hello? Anyone here? Did someone lose their fox?"

After waiting ten seconds and hearing no response, his excitement got the better of him. He eagerly scooped up the weakened fox and hurried home.

Eddie, known online as EddieMystery, was a streamer dabbling in mystic arts.

He'd previously been invited to participate in a mystic arts entertainment program known as Sixth Sense on Lemon TV. Alongside him were popular stars like Vincent and Olivia.

But the show turned out to be more of a mystery-solving program. To create a sense of mystic art, it leaned heavily on scripted scenarios and failed to make a splash.

She looked up in confusion. Who was he calling the Fox Deity? She was no Fox Deity, and she refused to go home with him.

She growled weakly in protest, but Eddie didn't understand her. Instead, he glanced down and asked, "What's wrong? Are you hungry? What would you like to eat? Cat food? Dog food?"

Fennec was utterly baffled. Dog food? Seriously?

Eddie promptly borrowed a small bag of cat food from his neighbor.

Fennec felt a pang of sadness as she watched him pour it out. She buried her face in the couch behind her.

Though she was a half-demon and bullied by her kin growing up, they'd never stooped so low as to feed her cat food. This human… was too much.

"Why aren't you eating? Don't you like the taste?" Eddie wondered out loud.

He picked up a piece and popped it into his mouth to crunch it loudly. "Tastes fine to me."

Fennec heard the crunch and turned to look at him.
