A surge of black energy waves roared toward Shannon and compressed the air as it approached.

At the critical moment, someone grabbed Shannon's arm and pulled her into an embrace. A familiar golden light enveloped her entirely.

Benjamin held her tightly and turned to shield her with his back against the black wave.

Sensing the danger, the Mini Stone Turtle that had absorbed Briley's spiritual energy reacted. It emitted a massive turtle-shell barrier that encased everyone inside.

The reception room was in chaos.

The barrier Shannon had initially placed over Hank and Shannon disintegrated just like the talismans before and melted into pools of black water.

The black liquid slid down the Mini Stone Turtle's protective barrier and hit the floor. It instantly released acrid smoke with a sizzling sound.

Tortoise the System, which had been flying around recklessly, had been left outside the Mini Stone Turtle's shield.

Most of the dense black smoke around it had been blown away by the explosion and left only a faint layer. Its shell was now splattered with patches of black liquid.

Shannon immediately broke free from Benjamin's arms after the explosion. She grabbed him and inspected him carefully.

When she caught sight of the familiar turtle-shell barrier overhead, she heaved a long sigh of relief.

Even so, she couldn't help but glare at Benjamin. This was the second time he'd appeared out of nowhere and took it upon himself to shield her from harm.

She followed the voice to find the tortoise sprawled on the floor with faint traces of black smoke emanating from its shell. It was a residue of malevolent energy released by the explosion.

It seemed that the explosion wasn't the true aim. It was the spread of this malevolent energy.

Shannon slapped a talisman onto Tortoise the System's shell before quickly setting up an array in the room.

The array would contain the malevolent energy and prevent it from spreading and affecting the surrounding area.

While she worked, Jonty and the manager of the raw stone market rushed in and were alarmed by the commotion. They stopped short at the sight of the wrecked reception room and wore conflicted expressions.

Benjamin stepped forward without hesitation and said, "All damages will be covered by the Cooper family. If you'd rather relocate entirely, I'll send my assistant to handle the details with you."

Jonty recognized Benjamin and quickly waved his hand. "This little bit of damage is nothing. I'm just relieved that nothing happened to you and Ms. Jensen while you were here. There's no compensation necessary, really!"

Benjamin didn't argue further against his reassurances. He made a mental note to have Nick handle the matter later.
