Enveloped in swirling black smoke, Tortoise the System charged forward like a cannonball.

With the sound akin to cracking stone, Brooklynn was struck by the unexpected assault from the system. She was entirely flung backward. Her body slammed against the ground with a heavy thud.

She attempted to rise, but the massive depletion of spiritual energy left her too weak to support herself. After a futile struggle to stand, she collapsed again and was utterly drained.

After launching one opponent into retreat, Tortoise the System appeared to be on adrenaline high. It was shrouded in black smoke as it darted around the room and laughed like a villain in a melodrama.

"Hahaha! My body is brimming with energy! The system has returned! Who dares call me useless now?

"Jordan, take a good look! You ignored me, so don't ever think about begging me to come back!" His words trailed off with a maniac cackle.

If humiliation had driven the system into its previously sullen state, it was now the opposite extreme and was ecstatic and delirious.

Shannon was utterly stunned. The system had clearly lost its mind.

Though its voice was only audible to Shannon, the chaotic sight of the smoke-shrouded tortoise zipping through the room was visible to all, including Nash hiding in the shadows.

He observed the scene and attempted to recall the black smoke, but to his dismay, the portion absorbed by the tortoise was entirely out of his control.

Cursing under his breath, he was about to unleash another move when Shannon, who'd been standing by the side, suddenly sprang into action.

A talisman shot from her hand and transformed midair into a glowing chain that lunged directly toward the hidden figure in the corner.

The chain struck an invisible barrier, and with a shimmer, the barrier dissolved into black smoke revealing the hidden Nash.

It was the same face she'd seen through the surveillance talisman. For the first time, they stood face to face.

Black smoke began to seep from him again, but this time it was different. It was denser and more tangible.

The black smoke coalesced into a massive black sphere that expanded outward like an inflating balloon. All the while, he remained at the center.

Shannon's binding talismans dissolved into black puddles once they made contact with the black balloon sphere.

She frowned. A sense of foreboding crept over her as she hastily continued her spell, but the ballooning smoke grew faster than she could react.

Just as the ballooning smoke was on the verge of an eruption, she gritted her teeth and pulled back her remaining talismans. Instead, she erected a protective barrier.

Her gaze darted to the unconscious Hank on the couch and collapsed Brooklynn in the corner. With no hesitation, she extended her barrier to cover them both.

With that, a deafening boom followed. The black smoke sphere erupted in a violent explosion.
