Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 1227

Worried that Shannon might consider joining the Demon Control Agency, everyone eagerly promoted their colleges and agencies, paying no heed to the timing or the setting.

"The Northgate School specializes in innovation of talismanic arts. We love to encourage our students to pursue diverse development. If you join us, we can guarantee you the freedom to study various spells!"

"The Jamborough School is the most prestigious among the three colleges. Compared to being a Northgater, why don't you consider being a guest lecturer on our campus instead? It's surely a more distinguished position."

"The Jamborough Security Branch Agency is the headquarters. Over here, you can learn and experience plenty of stuff you won't find at college."

"Well, we have an abundance of demons at the Demon Control Agency! Aren't you into researching supernatural energy? We'll let you use them for R&D as much as you want!"

"Shannon…"

"Shannon!"

Their chatter soon attracted more guests from the ballroom. Soon, lecturers and students from each college began arguing about who ranked the best in all aspects.

Shannon couldn't understand how a normal dinner party had turned into a debate. She was ready to speak up and stop the discussion when she suddenly glimpsed the familiar figure of golden light shining through the darkness from outside the balcony.

She swallowed her words, as the golden light had captured her full attention. Ignoring the endless arguments, she responded perfunctorily before squeezing out from the crowd and dashing to the balcony.

The ballroom chosen by Hector was located in a private clubhouse garden; beyond the hall was the garden downstairs.

The garden was surrounded by warm yellow lights, yet they couldn't conceal the golden light that shone through.

Exiting through the main door, Shannon arrived at the garden and passed by a flower bed—her steps subconsciously frantic. Only after circling the flower bed did she finally catch sight of that familiar figure.

That voice was unlike the bright and confident tone she always carried. Instead, she sounded somewhat worried and aggrieved.

His gaze flickered, and after a while, he explained, "I had to handle something, and it held me back. I'm sorry I was late."

His apology came out so soft, like a feather brushing her heart, stirring an uncomfortable warmth within her. "The college tournament has only ended today. You weren't late… So, you don't have to apologize."

They hadn't made a promise beforehand, and even if they had, she would never ask for an apology if he were late. She was simply worried about him.

She had felt an inexplicable worry for him previously, but now that she saw him, the worry became tangible. When she distinctly saw his shifting expressions, she knew something had happened to him.

Benjamin's golden light had faded—much, much more than before.
