Girl Get Rid Of That Jerk (Williams and Shawn) novel Chapter 362

Joshua's eyes were deep and intense as he leaned in, his voice barely above a whisper, "Allie, you really don’t get men, do you? The way Watson looks at you, he might as well be wearing his heart on his sleeve. Can't you tell how he feels about you?"

Allison burst into laughter, her eyes wide with disbelief.

Looking at Joshua, she replied with a mocking tone, "Oh, I definitely don't get men. That's why I fell for my ex-boyfriend's promise that he'd never leave me unless I brought up breaking up. Yet, when we did part ways, he laughed at me for believing such a fairy tale."

Joshua was momentarily stunned.

Weren’t they talking about Watson? How did the spotlight turn on him so suddenly? Those were the very words he had thrown at Allie during their breakup. He knew how deeply they had cut her.

His own heart ached just as much. Uttering those cruel words had been like stabbing himself with a knife.

The turmoil in Joshua's eyes faded, giving way to a heavy sense of helplessness and regret. He looked down, his voice thick with sorrow, "Allie, I had my reasons for saying those things. They weren’t how I truly felt."

Allison let out a cold laugh, "Which part? The part where you promised you’d stick around as long as I didn’t mention breaking up? Spare me, I’ve heard it all before."

"No," Joshua pleaded, stepping closer with urgency, his hands gently gripping her shoulders. "You know that’s not it. Allie, my heart has always been yours. My feelings for you have never wavered."

"Stop it." Allison's eyes were icy. "It's too late for that now. I've got things to handle, so I'm leaving."

With that, Allison turned and opened her car door.

"Allie, just hear me out..." Joshua tried to keep the door from closing.
