Allison sank into the couch with a relaxed sigh. "Watson, grab yourself some coffee and make yourself at home."

She turned to the housekeeper, Paola, "Paola, could you please take some fruit and snacks up to Lizzy and Julia?"

"Sure thing."

Watson took the chance to dive into work talk. "Allison, did they set a date for the Helix Sciences case?"

"Yes, it's scheduled for the fifteenth of next month."

"How's the prep coming along?"

Allison replied, "Almost there. A few minor kinks need ironing out, but since you're here today, we can go over them."

"Sounds good," Watson grinned. "Happy to help."

Once Allison got going on work, she was unstoppable, and Watson had hit the bullseye with his topic choice.

The afternoon flew by as they got engrossed in their conversation. As the sun dipped lower, Paola busied herself with dinner preparations.

Javier and Linda were out at some fancy evening event, so it was just dinner for Watson and Julia.

Lizzy and Julia were thick as thieves. Lizzy tugged Julia downstairs, "Hey, why don't you stay for dinner? We can sit together."

Julia nodded politely, "Let me check with my mom first. She's waiting for me to have dinner at home."

Watson jumped in, "Your mom just rang. She said it's fine for you to stay for dinner and head home afterward."

"Really?" Julia's eyes sparkled like little stars. "In that case, I'd love to stay and have dinner with Lizzy."

Lizzy clapped her hands in delight, "Yay!"

At dinner, the two young friends sat side by side, while Watson was across from them, next to Allison.

"Sorry for intruding, Allison," Watson said with a grin. "I got so wrapped up in our case chat that I lost track of time and now I'm freeloading dinner."

Though he said it apologetically, inside, he was quite pleased. This was exactly what he'd hoped for.

Allison chuckled, "No need to apologize. It's just dinner. I should be thanking you. It's been a while since I've seen Lizzy this happy."

Watson nodded, "Seeing the kids have such a blast makes me happy too."
