Girl Get Rid Of That Jerk (Williams and Shawn) novel Chapter 244

Days slipped by, snow falling softly over Oak Lake, and soon it was mid-January.

Allison picked up a call from her supervisor Pierce at the law firm. "Hey, Allison, I heard you're into golf?"

Allison was trying to remember who could've mentioned it when she suddenly recalled filling out an onboarding form where she had scribbled her love for golf.

"Yeah, Pierce, I do. What's up?" Allison replied.

Pierce chuckled warmly. "I've got a big client, Eric from Infinique Ventures, who's really into golf. I've set up a game with him on the 18th at Southern Ridge Royal Golf Course. I’d like you to come along with me."

Allison thought it over. Going with Pierce seemed like a safe bet with no unexpected twists, so she agreed. "Sure thing, Pierce."

"Eric's got a few cases he might sign with us. If we seal the deal, you'll earn a 20% commission. Allison, I know you're pretty set financially and might not care much about this extra cash, but as lawyers, it's all about sharpening our negotiation skills."

The fact that Allison was the Owens family's heiress was well-known in the firm, and Pierce had definitely heard about it.

"I get it."

"Great, get ready. I'll have my assistant sort out your plane ticket."

"Alright."

After hanging up, Allison glanced at the calendar on her desk.

It was January 13th. Thirteen days had passed since New Year's Eve. She hadn't seen Joshua in almost two weeks.

She had been burying herself in work, trying to keep herself busy because whenever she had a moment to breathe, thoughts of Joshua would flood in, and her heart would ache.

The entertainment news was buzzing with rumors about Joshua and Megan's romance. Allison didn't seek it out, but her colleagues often gossiped, and she'd catch snippets.

"Did you see the trending news? Megan and Joshua went on a tropical getaway. They look like the perfect pair, such a stunning couple!"

The day of the business trip came quickly.

Allison boarded the flight to Southern Ridge with Pierce.

As she walked past first class, she unexpectedly locked eyes with a face she had been yearning to see. She froze, her usually composed face showing a slight crack.

In a sleek black coat, Joshua looked cool and distinguished, with a laptop in front of him. Beside him, Megan's smile was as bright as ever.

Sensing her gaze, Joshua looked up from his screen, meeting Allison's eyes, and paused for a moment.

The air felt charged. A subtle hint of jealousy lingered, mixed with a touch of sadness.

Megan's smile was radiant and bold as she greeted Allison, "Ms. Allison, fancy seeing you again."
