Girl Get Rid Of That Jerk (Williams and Shawn) novel Chapter 208

The girl who seemed so innocent? Liam mulled it over for a second before tentatively asking, "Is it Miss Sue?"

Chris took a drag from his cigarette, exhaling slowly as the smoke wrapped around him like a ghostly veil. "I don't think that's her name. It was the night we landed at Oak Lake. Wesley brought her over. Petite, long dark hair, big eyes, just turned eighteen, and apparently still a college student."

Hearing this, Liam's memory clicked into place.

On their first night in Oak Lake, Wesley had thrown a welcome dinner to butter up Chris. He had specifically picked out a few stunning young girls, including the one Chris was talking about.

That night, Chris casually picked two girls to keep him company. After a few drinks, he took them to the hotel for a little fun, leaving the long-haired girl behind.

However, Chris seemed to have taken a shine to her too. Even though she wasn't part of the night's escapades, he generously handed her twenty grand, saying it was for her college tuition.

Everyone knew the score—the twenty grand was really for her first night.

Chris even gifted her an apartment near her college.

Liam, who'd been by Chris's side the longest, knew him like the back of his hand. Chris was notorious for his carefree and roguish lifestyle, juggling a harem of girls. Some, like Yara, had been with him for nearly two years, while others he never thought of again after a night or two.

With this in mind, Liam hesitated before speaking, "Chris, about an hour ago, Miss Yara called to say she made dinner and is waiting for you. You promised to have dinner with her."

Yara had been around for so long, Liam felt she was a bit different from the rest and thought it best to remind Chris of his commitment.

Chris chuckled, a hint of indifference in his eyes, "Suddenly, I don't feel like going."

"Alright."

Liam didn’t press further and quietly started the car.

...

Yara's heart felt like it had been stabbed, bleeding profusely with unbearable pain. She gripped her phone tightly, her knuckles turning white, as tears streamed down her face.

"Can you hear that? I'm busy, sweetheart. I won't be able to make it for dinner tonight," Chris's voice was hoarse, with a gravelly undertone.

Yara bit her lip hard, trying her best to keep the tears in check.

Chris didn’t bother to hang up, casually tossing the phone onto the bed, letting those sensual sounds filter through to Yara.

Yara, in a self-destructive haze, listened to those sounds that became instruments of torture, leaving her utterly wounded, her heart aching to the point of suffocation.

She thought she was special to Chris, having been with him the longest. He had only brought her back on this trip. However, her perceived uniqueness turned out to be a cruel joke.

The woman's voice on the other end grew louder, from initial shyness to full-blown abandon. Yara couldn’t take it anymore and threw her phone with all her might.
