Girl Get Rid Of That Jerk (Williams and Shawn) novel Chapter 206

Being a lawyer can be a risky gig, and it's not unheard of for clients to hold grudges and plot revenge. Just recently, Attorney Brody ended up in the hospital, nearly losing his life after being attacked by a client.

Blake was down on his knees, begging, "Please, spare me, ma'am. I messed up, I promise I won't do it again."

Allison frowned, "Was it you who had someone try to shove me off the road earlier?"

"What road? What person?" Blake looked puzzled. "I didn't send anyone. This is literally the first time I've seen you."

So, it wasn't him? Then who?

Allison furrowed her brow, deep in thought. Could it have been Kate?

She quickly dismissed that idea. Kate might be manipulative and not exactly her best friend, but she didn't seem the type to go that far.

So, who could it be?

After a moment, a name popped into her mind—Chris. Joshua had warned her about Chris' ties to the Fisher family and mentioned he might cause trouble to get back at Joshua.

With this in mind, Allison glanced at the bruised and battered man in front of her. "Are you working for Chris?"

The man shook his head, "I don't know him, ma'am. Please, let me go. I promise I won’t do it again. I'll compensate London as soon as I get home today. Just let me go!"

Allison asked coldly, "If you're not working for Chris, why did you call me out here with so many thugs? A small-time factory owner like you wouldn’t dare act so boldly unless someone else was pulling the strings. Tell me who's behind you, and I might let you go."

Blake shivered. His boss had connections on both sides of the law, and everyone in the underworld gotta show him respect. The factory was his boss's, and Blake was just a scapegoat, with no real power.

Too scared to betray his boss, Blake thought of the ruthless methods his boss employed and broke out in a cold sweat. Swallowing hard, he replied, "I...I don't have anyone backing me. I just thought you were a young girl and wanted to scare you a bit."

At Windswept House, the housekeeper Shannon had laid out a spread of Allison's favorite dishes. Shannon smiled warmly, "Allie, tough day at work, huh? Come and eat."

Allison picked up her fork but didn't have much of an appetite. Her mind was still stuck on the terrifying moment on the road earlier. It was the first time she'd been so close to death. She almost didn’t make it to see another day.

As she was lost in her thoughts, Joshua returned home. "Allie, are you alright?" he asked, his face full of concern as he rushed over, placing his hands gently on her shoulders, looking her over carefully.

Allison snapped back to reality, "Joshua, you know already?"

Joshua nodded, pulling her into a tight embrace. He had almost lost her.
