Girl Get Rid Of That Jerk (Williams and Shawn) novel Chapter 198

At the Hospital,

Shawn lay on the hospital bed, drifting in and out of consciousness. He thought he heard Allison’s voice.

‘Allison...’

‘Allison...’

He fought to open his eyes.

The first thing he saw was the stark white ceiling. Pain throbbed in his wrist, and the sharp scent of antiseptic filled his nose.

He wiggled his fingers.

"Shawn, you're finally awake! Why would you do something so reckless? Oh, my boy..." Cindy's eyes were puffy and red from crying. She looked like a sad frog.

Shawn managed to speak, "Mom, why are you here? Where's Allison?"

He could've sworn he just heard Allison’s voice.

Shawn's eyes wandered around the room.

His mom and dad were there, along with his friends Colt, Jayden, and a few other buddies. Even Kate, who he had a big blowout with that morning, was present. But the one person he desperately wanted to see was missing.

Kate heard Shawn's first question about Allison, and turned away, tears streaming down her face.

His dad, Grant, scolded him angrily, "Why are you trying to end your life over a girl? How did I end up with such a disappointing son?"

"Enough already, he just got out of emergency care. Do you want to send him back again?" Cindy snapped at Grant with a glare.

Grant’s eyes were dark with fatigue, showing the toll of sleepless nights.

He argued, "You spoiled him! Look at what he's become. He’s always hung up on some girl. To the point of a suicide attempt! It's shameful!"

Cindy wasn’t having it. She shot back, "How can you say that? Isn’t he your son, too? Have you ever been there for him? If anyone's to blame, it's you!"

In the video, Allison wore a beautiful dress, her makeup flawless. She held a birthday cake, and was smiling into the camera.

"Shawn, thank you for spending my birthday with me. I’m really happy today.

"This is my first birthday with a boyfriend; it’s really special."

Shawn’s voice came through in the video, "Allison, I’ll celebrate every birthday with you."

"Okay."

It turned out, the voice he heard was just from an old video.

Tears rolled down Shawn's face uncontrollably.

Three years had gone by, and everything had changed. He watched that video again, and his heart twisted in a deep, aching pain.
