As Joshua left the apartment, he casually tossed the bag of breakfast into the trash bin downstairs and instructed his assistant to investigate Shawn.
It didn’t take long to uncover the truth. Shawn had shelled out a hefty sum to get his hands on Allison’s address from the property management company.
Joshua wasted no time in filing a lawsuit against them and summoned the company’s CEO for a chat. The CEO, a man in his forties, had no clue about the storm heading his way. He was under the delusion that the president of Fisher Corporation was looking to strike a deal with him.
Joshua didn’t bother meeting such small fry himself. Instead, his assistant, John, took care of it.
The CEO greeted John with a smile that was all sugar and no sincerity. “Is Mr. Fisher planning to partner with our company today?”
John raised an eyebrow, his eyes laced with sarcasm. “With a company like yours that casually trades residents' information? Fisher Corporation wouldn’t touch you with a ten-foot pole.”
The man’s expression went from confusion to dread in record time. “What? Selling residents' information? What are you talking about?”
John casually tossed a stack of documents in front of him. “Take a good look at these. They’re proof of your company’s little side hustle. Mr. Fisher wants you to know exactly why you're in deep trouble.”
The man’s hands shook as he flipped through the documents, his face turning white as a sheet, sweat beading on his forehead.
“There... must be some mistake... I’ll get my team to verify this immediately!”
Joy returned, her eyes a bit red. She sniffled, her voice shaky, “Ms. Allison, I’ve sorted everything out.”
Allison was busy typing away at her computer. She heard Joy’s slightly choked voice, looked up, and paused. “Why do you look like you’re about to cry?”
Joy bit her lip, her eyes misty. “Peyton’s condition is getting worse. The doctors say if we can’t find a matching bone marrow soon, she might not make it through the winter...”
Allison’s hands froze on the keyboard, her lashes dampening with sudden emotion.
“Let’s hold on a bit longer. I’ve already got people searching for a match. We’ll find it... we have to...” Allison’s voice wavered slightly.
