Girl Get Rid Of That Jerk (Williams and Shawn) novel Chapter 146

She bit her lip, feeling a bit frustrated, and muttered, "Since you've already had dinner, I'll just tidy up here." Lillian moved to the dining table and began to clear away the dishes.

Before Joshua got home, Lillian had been daydreaming about how magical it would be to have a candlelight dinner together. They would be dancing, enjoying a gentle buzz from the wine, the air filled with the scent of roses. It was all set up to be perfectly romantic! But now, her plans were ruined, leaving her with a bitter sense of disappointment.

She figured she had to take her chance while Allison was still in the hospital. Her eyes landed on the bottle of wine nearby.

Joshua had already headed to the living room, leaving the dining area behind. Taking advantage of the moment, Lillian slipped out the pills she had prepared and dropped them into the wine.

In the living room, Joshua casually tossed his jacket onto the sofa, then leaned back with his long legs stretched out, massaging his temples tiredly. He pulled out his phone to text Allison.

Joshua: [Just got home. Are you asleep?]

There was no reply. It was eleven at night; she was probably asleep by now. A slight pang of disappointment tugged at him.

Just then, Lillian gracefully approached with a glass of wine. "Fancy some wine, Joshua?"

Joshua had a love for fine wines, and his villa boasted a stunning wine collection, with an entire wall dedicated to bottles worth thousands, even millions. He often relaxed with a drink when he was tired, a habit Lillian was well aware of.

Lillian sat down next to him, leaning in a bit too close. Joshua’s face showed irritation as he gently pushed her away. "You should head home. I'll call the driver for you."

Lillian's eyes glistened. "Did I do something to upset you, Joshua?"

"Don't come here again," he said with a cold edge. "Enough with your little schemes."

"I know you've been busy and stressed. I just wanted to show you some care. Do you really need to be so dismissive?"

Joshua: [Alright, get some good rest after your drink. I’ll come see you tomorrow.]

Allison: [I'll be busy tomorrow and might have to work late. I’d prefer to rest early when I get home.]

Joshua: [Then the day after tomorrow.]

Allison sighed, unsure if she'd shake off this flu by then. After a moment, she replied: [The day after might be busy too. I’ll come find you when I'm free. Make sure you take care of yourself. You've been busy too.]

Lillian watched him text. His expression was gentle and relaxed, so he was clearly messaging Allison. Jealousy gnawed at her.

With a loud crash, the wine glass slipped from her hand, shattering on the floor. Joshua looked up, meeting Lillian's eyes with a steely glare.
