Girl Get Rid Of That Jerk (Williams and Shawn) novel Chapter 138

Joshua furrowed his brow and asked, a bit unsure, "Is it serious?"

Celena, looking genuinely concerned, replied, "It seems pretty bad. She can't walk. Please go take a look."

The winding path through the hills was tricky, where a misstep could easily lead to a fall or a twisted ankle. Allison didn't suspect anything at first. She thought that since Lillian was Joshua's sister, they should check on her if she was hurt.

"Let's see what's going on," Allison said to Joshua.

"Alright."

Joshua and Allison followed Celena back down the path and found Lillian sitting on a rock by the roadside, biting her lip in pain.

"What happened?" Joshua asked.

Lillian's eyes were filled with tears. "I accidentally stepped on a small rock and slipped. I fell and hurt my foot. It hurts so much."

Allison glanced down to see Lillian's knee covered in dirt, her ankle scraped and bleeding. She was genuinely injured.

Joshua asked, "Can you walk?"

"No, I can't." Tears streamed down her face, making her look like a damsel in distress. "It's okay, Joshua. Don't worry about me. You're almost at the summit. Go watch the meteor shower. I don't want to hold you back."

Joshua nodded. "I'll find someone to take you back."

Lillian was taken aback, her expression faltering for a moment before she resumed her tearful act. "Joshua, I... I really want to see the meteor shower, too. Can you not send me back just yet? I don't want to miss out."

Joshua looked around and then down at the ground. Confused by his actions, Lillian asked, "Joshua, is that okay?"

Joshua's voice was calm and detached. "If you're so eager to see the meteor shower, you can watch it from here. The view is pretty good, and although it's not as high as the platform, you should still be able to see it."

"What?" Lillian clearly didn't expect Joshua to say that. She bit her lip, her face looking even paler in the dim light. "Joshua, I don't want to stay here alone. You'll all be at the platform, and I'll be scared by myself."

Joshua remained unmoved, his tone still distant. "You have two friends with you, don't you? They can stay with you. I'll make sure someone brings you some snacks. After the meteor shower, I'll have someone take you back. You shouldn't stay on the mountain overnight."

Sabrina shot Allison a knowing glance, as if to say, "Your man’s impressive."

Lillian couldn't accept this outcome. Crying, she said, "Joshua, why won't you carry me to the platform? Is it because you're worried Allison will be upset? Is she really that petty? I'm your sister. Would she be jealous of that?"
