Girl Get Rid Of That Jerk (Williams and Shawn) novel Chapter 133

Lillian tried to muster a smile, but it was a bit forced and didn’t quite light up her eyes. “I’m glad Allison likes my cooking.”

“Oh, come on now, Allison’s your sister-in-law!” Sabrina teased with a playful grin. “You’ve got to get used to it.”

Lillian opened her mouth, her face still tense. “I’ll need some time to adjust.”

“Joshua, try this beef skewer I just grilled,” Allison offered, using the same fork she’d been eating with. Joshua didn’t mind a bit and obediently opened his mouth to taste it.

Lillian’s eyes flashed coldly as she clenched her fists tightly, her knuckles turning white.

“It’s delicious,” Joshua said, his eyes crinkling with a smile.

Allison beamed, her eyes twinkling with delight.

Lillian’s expression soured, and her voice was icy. “Joshua, I’m going to eat over there.”

Allison pretended not to notice Lillian’s stormy expression and cheerfully asked, “Want some grilled chicken, Lillian? I just made it, and your brother loves it.”

“No, thanks.” Lillian turned away, maintaining her frosty demeanor.

Allison exchanged a meaningful glance and a knowing smile with Sabrina across the table.

Olivia gave Allison a thumbs-up, smiling.

Joshua understood that Allison was putting on a show for Lillian, and he’d played along. Now that Lillian had left, he still wanted to continue the sweet act.

With a grin, he said, “Allie, I’d love some more of that grilled chicken wing. Will you feed me?”

Allison chuckled, “If you want more, you gotta get it yourself.”

“Ha ha ha, seriously, dude? You need to be fed now?” Brian teased, laughing. “Is this really the Joshua I know?”

...

After enjoying their meal and some downtime, everyone geared up for the hike.

Brian and Sabrina took the lead, with George and Olivia close behind, followed by Shawn, Lillian, and the others.

Allison and Joshua brought up the rear.

Joshua walked next to Allison, holding her hand. “Allie, it’s about a two-hour hike to the summit’s observation deck. Think you can handle it?”

“Of course! I love hiking. It’s a fantastic way to soak in nature and unwind. It’s not too tiring.”

Joshua knew Allison was a fan of outdoor activities. Back in college, she was always out hiking and rock climbing with her friends. He was just worried she hadn’t been out much since graduation and might need time to get back into the groove.
