Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life novel Chapter 1831

"Enough already! Haven't you stirred up enough trouble?" Jaxson's hand came down hard on the coffee table, making everyone jump—everyone except Jane, who stood her ground, unfazed by his outburst.

Sure, Jane was the Kidd family's only daughter, but the family had other members, too. According to the Kidd family rules, illegitimate children weren't allowed to inherit. So, even though Jane's mom had passed away early, Jane still had plenty of support from within the family. Plus, her maternal grandfather's side packed quite a punch, which gave her the guts to challenge Jaxson head-on.

"Dad, you still think I'm the one causing a fuss? Have you even thought about what'll happen if International Glam digs into this? Our whole Kidd family could go down!" Jane's words were like a breeze against a brick wall to Jaxson, who wasn't budging an inch.

"I've checked. International Glam hasn't filed any official reports for these designs. Just stay out of it and quit talking about it. Go back to school and focus on your studies."

Jane stared at her father, disbelief etched across her face. She couldn't wrap her head around how her once diligent, by-the-book dad was now pulling a stunt like this.

She glanced up at this now unfamiliar father of hers, a bitter smile curling her lips. "I hope you don't end up regretting this."

With a heavy heart, Jane left the Kidd family home, feeling utterly let down.

After she left, her stepmother and stepbrother exchanged sly grins. They knew that as long as Jane's trust in Jaxson waned, she'd likely give up her inheritance rights. That would open the door for Jane's stepbrother, the illegitimate son, to step into the company and snag a piece of the pie. Otherwise, they'd remain as powerless as ever, despite their flashy facade.
