“MY HOME WAS RUINED!”
Bursting into tears, I yelled my agony.
The pain I went through all because my mother destroyed a life and I had to pay for the consequences.
Flinching when I raised my voice, she narrowed her eyes in compassion. Covering my eyes with my hands, I fell on my seat, tears recollecting as I sobbed feebly.
“Why… Did you remain silent? Why didn’t you tell ‘me’?” She whispered, taking my wrist in her hands and pulling them down to stare properly at my deeply grieved expression.
“That incident turned her suicidal. We forced my mother to eradicate this memory. She vaguely remembered so I kept the blame on me.” I whispered sorrowfully.
I agree she must have gone through a painful situation but ours was no better. We faced hell too, we were surrounded by our miseries.
And amid this, the guilt of that worsen things for us too.
We could never forget it.
Sniffling, I forced my heavy eyes to collide with her sorrowful ones as I whispered sincerely.
“But, those words of yours were always repeated in my mind. I could never forget them.”
Releasing a tear, she continued to stare at me in anguish, having no words for my consolation. Parting my wrists from hers, I did what I considered right to convince her angry heart.
I joined my hands before my beloved, praying my untold feelings would reach her core and she would return.
“Look, I am joining my hands before you. Please forgive me and return to me, my love. My life has become too difficult without you.”
The second I begged her, she wrapped her arms around me, pulling in the most comforting place- her arms. Kissing the top of my head, she kept me near her heart.
Keeping a tear at bay, my sorrows found redemption when I was secured around her arms.
“Don’t say this, please.” Murmuring, she kept me enclosed as I held her weakly. Not having enough strength to lift my head.
“I am sorry, I had no idea my words would affect you this much. I am so sorry, Dariel.”
Kissing the top of my head, her fingers twirled around my locked, shedding silent tears that made my heart thump abnormally.
“Promise you won’t leave me ever again.” I spoke in a broken tone while shaking my head.
“I won’t.”
Curling her lips upward beautifully, she pulled away and held my hands in hers, tranquilizing me. Returning the smile, I kissed her knuckles, sensing how swiftly my heart was pumping when I confessed.
“I love you, Saafia.”
“I love you too, Dariel.”
And when I heard it, I found my world being completed, my emotions finding a shore. Sharing mutual attachment brought shine in our eyes.
“I won’t leave you again. I am glad Jacey told me, I was dying to hear any justifications.” She declared, resting her head in my chest which I accepted instantly. I needed that warmth to move forward at this point.
“I had my own restrictions. I didn’t mean all this to happen too. I know your Father won’t return but neither will my mother.” I whispered, allowing her to be soothed as I won’t let her go again.
Only I knew how to spend these few days in suffering without her.
“I know. Let’s place everything behind us and start our new life. Just you and me.” I offered sweetly, grinning at my woman who finally returned to me.
Chuckling, she nodded, “Mhm. I don’t want anything else.”
“Then return to where you belong.” Whispering temptingly, I wrapped my arm around her dainty body, lifting her like a bridal style.
“What are you doing?” She asked shyly, averting her gaze while wrapping those arms around my neck.
I hummed, “He threw us to the ground after Father's Death. I didn’t know but he hated my mother and was taking his revenge by hurting all of us.”
“Where is he now? I have never seen him.”
“He left after Mother died and after that I have no contact with him or his son. And I pray that if they won’t return to our lives, the better it would be for all of us.” I told her, praying he never returns to our lives.
I didn’t want him or his son’s shadow anywhere near me or a strong hostility would be created. I was not what I was before.
I would hit back with much harsh force.
“Hmm. I pray no evil eye will cast on our home again.” She grinned, shifting upward to kiss my cheek, blinding me completely in her presence to turn oblivious of everything else.
“You have forgiven me, right?” I asked desperately.
Narrowing my eyes because if it turned out to be a dream, I won’t be able to bear it.
“How can I stay angry when you are not my culprit? I still hoped that you had told me sooner but my heart is delicate for you.” She exhaled, closing her eyes.
“Then why did you leave me?” I frowned, leaving her hand so I could lift her chin, wanting her to witness how much it hurt me.
“At least something good came out of it. You confessed.” She smirked, winking at me. Melting my rage in a second.
“Hmm but I won’t let you go ever again. Understood.” I enunciated, poking her nose.
“Yes, Mister Cannedy.”
“Hey.”
We both stared at each other for the next few seconds before breaking into a peaceful lull after knowing that my beloved was in my arms and there was nothing I had to worry about anymore.
