Gasping in pure horror, my jaw dropped when she hit the man. Shrieking in appall, her eyes widened as the realization of what she ended up doing sank in.
She glanced at the man on the ground and then at me. The road was empty but due to her senselessness, she did something vile.
“Shit. Shit. Shit.”
Cursing, she started the car and rushed away from there when people started gathering. Astounded at her horrible action, I glared at her.
“No, no, no, what are you doing, Mama? That man is hurt! We should save him!” I yelled at her, motioning to her to go back and take him to the hospital but she began to cry, shaking her head in denial.
“We can’t do that, Dariel! If they came to know I was drinking and driving, I would be in trouble and Harry would take advantage of it.” She sobbed, knowing our Uncle would use it as a chance to crush her.
“What the hell are you saying?! That man is alive! We must help them- Mama, no!” I shouted, covering my mouth, I couldn’t help and ended up sobbing too when she hastened the speed and vanished from the sight.
“I can’t risk your future. Helder would ruin you if anything happened to me.” She whispered, becoming selfish as a mother.
Our future was at risk, Uncle Harry was too powerful, he would have ravaged us if anything happened to her.
“An innocent man might die because of us. Are you realizing that!?” I growled, not caring about condition or future.
What happened before my eyes was immoral and we must redeem but she was only thinking as our Mother.
“No, no, no, I didn’t do it.” Shaking her head in denial, she took our car in a secluded area, to somewhere safe and got out.
Shaking violently, she was wailing. Glaring outrageously, I was highly enraged at her pathetic actions.
“What have you done, Mama!?” I yelled, coming to the front and saw our car had slight blood on it.
“What should we do, Dariel?” Mama began to cry out loud, holding her chest and falling on her knees.
“Ahh! What have I done? Dariel, save me, please save me! Who will be for you and Jacey?” She sobbed in a deafening sound, pulling her hair from pure frustration.
She was already carrying too much and now the weight of this accident gobbled her. It stole her identity. Ferociously weeping at her actions, she slammed her hand down.
“I don’t want to go to jail. Please, help me. What should I do!?” She wept, mouth gaped, tears smeared across her cheeks.
I couldn’t help and ended up crying as well to find her falling apart so horribly. Her condition agonized me, she only had her children and I couldn’t bear this heartache.
“Mama, please don’t cry.” Whispering desperately, I hugged her tightly, rubbing her back to stop her from sobbing this painfully.
“Dariel, save me. Please, please. Please.” She cried on my chest, clinging onto me.
My body quivered, my mind was barely functioning but I won’t leave her in this anguish. Sniffling, I wiped my tears, forcing my sobs to stop and cupped her cheeks.
“Okay, okay. I will do something.” I whispered, caressing her to help her soothe down.
“You go home, I will handle this mess.” I told her breathlessly, holding her shoulders to help her stand. I was frightened, disturbed but for her sake got myself together.
“Promise me that you will.” She asked, holding my arms.
“Okay, okay. You go now. I will handle everything.” I whispered, kissing her hands.
I nodded weakly, “Mhm.”
“He was alive, I saw people taking him to the hospital. What should we do? My family needs me, Ian. I must get away with it.” Whispering, my perturbation reached its peak.
“Let me think.”
He took a deep breath, holding his sides in distress. Ian worked under my father and after him, he had always treated me as his son.
After gathering his thoughts, he found the only option available for us.
“I will hire someone to take the blame and then get him bail. People can do anything for money, I will send him as your driver.”
“I won’t get caught, right?” I asked with a gulp.
He glanced at me for a second and sighed in disappointment, leaning against the call.
“I don’t know who you are desperately trying to save but if you are taking the blame then I understand your position as the head of the family.”
My heart skipped a beat when he caught me immediately that I was taking the accusation on me.
“What do you mean?”
Yet, I acted unaware, averting my gaze in the other direction.
