Fleeing the Nightmarish Father novel Chapter 44

SAAFIA’S POV:-

Today was Jacey’s engagement. I finally got my chance to wear that baby pink dress, suiting me perfectly, hugging my curves with the matching makeup and that necklace.

“Are you done?”

The door knocked and he entered, looking bewitching as usual in his three piece dark blue suit jacket. Hair combed perfectly with a brooch on his lapel, holding a dominant presence while using his phone.

“Stop using your phone and look.” I called softly, turning to him.

“Hmm?”

Arching an eyebrow handsomely, he lifted his gaze and stopped at mine. His eyes widened for a moment, making my heart skip a beat.

“How… Do I look?” I asked with a shy smile.

He came closer, I took a step back, my throat dried. I could never discard or resist his unbreakable eyes on me. They were always intoxicating.

“You are looking…”

He paused, his attractive eyes observing my body from the bottom, gradually coming upward.

Stopping at my parted, shaky lips for two seconds before locking his eyes intensely with mine, making my heart pound.

Curling his thick lips in a smirk, completing seductively.

“Delicate.”

My heart skipped a beat. The first compliment I had received from him. My confidence was boosted, blushing with a strange sensation bubbling in my body.

Blinking and before I could react, his one hand snaked around my waist and the other hand held my chin. I almost gasped, not believing that I allowed his hands to lock my body willingly.

“A delicate doll.”

He continued to bind me in his allure. Hovering over me, drying my throat. Syncing my breaths with his rough one. My body froze along with uncontrollable heartbeats as I clutched his lapel.

“Really?” I asked innocently.

He rolled his tongue over his lips temptingly, a dark smirk widening on his lips. Holding my waist firmly, indulging in the proximity.

“If I wanted to lie, I would have lied the second I saw you dressed as my bride.” He whispered huskily, brushing his thumb under my lips.

Binding me in an unknown spell, I couldn’t believe how easily my body melted at his one action.

“You don’t say anything at all.” I mumbled.

I was about to turn my head away and avert my gaze but he lifted my chin more, pressing thumb over my lips to hush me.

“Yes. I don’t. But.”

He took another seductive pause. My body shivered when he stopped near my ears, whispering enticingly.

“Only ‘I’ know what I think.”

Blushing furiously, I had no words. My throat begged for water, my mind went blank. Having not a single idea what he must be thinking.

“I.. Uh..”

He smirked victoriously at my response, pulling away slightly from me, bringing a heat to my body to miss his warmth. I released the breath I stopped involuntarily.

Whenever I could hear his chuckle, I found my solace in it. My body reacted on its own to capture the moment I heard this melodious sound.

It sounded beautiful…

Smiling, I stared at his perfect features for the next few seconds as he held my hand and I was forced to drown in those eyes.

Were they always like this?

“If we go out and you outshine Jacey, you might have to change. I mean, it’s her event. We can’t ruin it,” He whispered in my ears.

“I know that much. It’s okay. I can wear it on our wedding anniversary.” I nodded, moving my hand upward and wrapping my arm around his instead of holding hand as I continued to smile.

“Oh, I forgot, you dream with your eyes open too.” He teased, pinching my cheek softly to piss me off.

I frowned. He indulged in my reaction as we went down to greet our guests.

“Hey, Jacey, congrats. Where is Sam?” I grinned, hugging Jacey.

“Thanks. Sam is with his parents … and I knew that dress was made for you. It suits you perfectly.” She grinned back, watching us from time to time.

“I know. He also said pink suits me.” I smirked, poking him with my elbow.

His mouth gaped, frowning at me instantly, “When did I say that?”

“In your mind.” I winked, teasing him as well.

He scoffed, leaving me and folding his arms at his chest, “Keep dreaming.”
