Although Jack didn't know who Derek was, he understood the words "gold mine."
"You... Are you saying... there's a gold mine on this island?" Jack looked at Charlotte in disbelief.
To buy an island casually and then discover it has a gold mine, that luck is truly unmatched, isn't it?
Charlotte shook her head, "It was just a rumor at the time, and no one confirmed it. We all thought it was just a hoax."
"Besides, the intentions of these people aren't clear yet; this is just our speculation."
Charlotte wasn't entirely convinced that there was really a gold mine on the island.
If true, why would the previous owner sell the island for just $310 million?
"Perhaps he doesn't even know about this?" Mandy speculated hesitantly.
"That's a possibility," Sharon furrowed his brow, gazing at the cave with the burning light.
Speculating and guessing won't get them anywhere. What's most important was to find out what's inside the cave.
The drone was no longer an option, and they were unlikely to sneak in without alerting those people.
Everyone fell into deep thought.
"We should head back for now," Charlotte furrowed her brow. These people seem to have been here for quite a while, and they won't leave anytime soon.
Sharon nodded. He was about to quietly retrieve the drone when they heard a short exchange over the drone's receiver.
"Will those people discover our activities here?" one man asked.
Another person replied, "What's there to fear? As the boss said, after we've taken everything inside and moved it all out in three days, we'll just kill those people."
Sharon didn't lose hope and thought for a moment. "I'll wait until daylight and find Ben."
Speaking of Ben and Anna, Charlotte furrowed her brow and said, "As soon as it gets light, let's send them away."
The backgrounds of those people were still unclear, and she couldn't leave Ben and Anna here to take risks.
Joe pondered for a moment and then shifted his gaze to Charlotte.
"If we all leave, those people will likely notice something is amiss soon," Charlotte understood Joe's implication, but she didn't believe this approach would be successful.
Charlotte and Joe locked eyes. "Besides, if they have any intention to target me, getting through this once means we have to remain vigilant for the next time."
It might be better to resolve it all at once.
